The other member you saw was lead guitarist Ryan Mendez, he’s been in the band since 2005. They haven’t had an official drummer since LP left.

Huge fan of Yellowcard since 2003 and the breakout album Ocean Avenue (20th birthday btw). Also their new song feels like Blink182's Edging kind of vibe. I mean, it is not their best song so far, it is a a real good song. But like Blink, we are so glad to see them back even if this is not the original line-up 😃

This is a classic quintessential Yellowcard song.. its great. They have a unique clasic sound with the violin. Just waitiing for it to BANG at some point but never came, instrumentally.

Big Yellowcard fan here, and LP similarly inspired my drumming tastes, as it sounds like it did for Johnny. That dude was just a menace for this band, and was a big reason I committed this band's songs to memory with repeated listens.

I got to see Yellowcard play Ocean Avenue in full at slam dunk fest the other weekend it was awesome!! Was stoked to hear them announce the new EP, and that Vic Fuentes and Chris from Dashboard Confessional are gonna feature!!! Gotta agree with Johnny, Ocean Ave’s a classic for a reason, it’s my fav too 😆 Although close runner up for me would be Southern Air

They don't have a full time drummer. The drummer from Anberlin has done the drums on this EP and the past couple records. Also, they had a listen part of their EP a couple weeks ago. This is the weakest song for me on the EP. The rest of the songs sound more like Paper Walls.

Big Yellowcard fan! And I agree having a rhythm guitar in the mix along with the lead would have definitely made the song pop out a little more. They were probably trying to go with a more subtle approach with this song for some reason.. not sure why. As far as the lyrics go, they’re not bad but Ryan is known for not having a very extensive vocabulary when song writing so he recycles a lot of words from other songs he’s written. I don’t really mind it though.

I definitely prefer when they go really "riffy" and heavy with the guitars (like Lights and Sounds or Paper Walls), but this had a kind of Jimmy Eat World feel to it that I did enjoy as well. The lyrics are... less great, they sort of scream "incel" to me I guess is the best way to put it, but I guess that's most of pop-punk now so whatever.

It's crazy the kinds of bands that EVR (Equalvision Records) are signing. Like.. Anberlin just dropped probably their heaviest (like Stephen goes HARD) track yesterday and Yellowcard drops their least interesting (no offense to this song).

Metacritic is a compilation of many music criticals, and i telling that southern air despite the nostalgia is considered the most complet yellowcard album. If you hate the band, its you're right but is nonsense believes that you are the owner of the truth when you said that an album who have amazing grades didnt have a good Song.

Just a suggestion, but maybe you should Google the band you're about to review beforehand so you'll know who all of the current band members are? Ryan Mendez has been with the band long enough and is a tremendous guitarist, so this comes across as very disrespectful to him. I wish you had done some more homework on the current workings and lineup of the band before putting this review out there. Not cool.
