@@myplcrew yeah was one of the younger groms was just letting him know he bailed almost right in front of me haha they will learn duct diving is more efficient and less dangerous and you get worked either way in that situation! Obviously sometimes nothing you can do but bail, but if i am gonna bail ill look behind me or position myself where nobody is directly behind me!

What I'm curious of is how many people paddle out, then sit there for hours, don't catch a single wave because of the crowd and the hierarchy at pipe, then just paddle in. There's no way in hell everyone out there gets a wave. It's just way too crowded. Does anyone know?

But it’s a longboard nation up here. Sloppy, fat waves most of the time. Rarely see anything barrels. Not like NY where I’m from. So my question is or not really a question but any comments on transitioning from the longboards to short. I ride a 9/6 nose rider most of the time but I wanna ride shorter boards too so I’ve been going out on a 6/2 fish. I figure with the extreme change I’ll figure it out. Any tips? Generally speaking, what’s your paddle-time threshold before you physically just can’t paddle anymore? I can rarely stay out longer than around 3hrs even if it’s only 2-3ft before my shoulders and tri’s just shut down, but I don’t know if it’s just my body falling apart on me 😓

I can surf hard (catching lots of waves and paddling in a rip current to stay in position) for prob 3-4 hours before i start to get really uncomfortable, enough to go in, tongue swells up from salt exposure and shoulders start to ache, i was blessed with a body that very very rarely cramps up, both my brothers are the same, takes alot of dehydration, caffeine combo to cramp up but eventually my calves will

Like others have commented about the crowds, ugh it must suck, even being local it would suck with that many people just invade the place. It makes it even more dangerous imo. Thank goodness there are still many many many uncrowded spots in Australia, not a wave like pipe of course but I think i'm happier with less dangerous waves and no crowds, than incredibly dangerous and crowds. the rush from a barrel at pipe must be pretty special tho.
