I'm Nigerian, and I think what we see here is a comprehension problem. Nathanial Bassey didn't advise to sing in English to "blow", so the Despacito point by Badu does not make sense. He didn't advise to sing in English to capture the Nigerian market either. This is gospel - he said sing in English so that you can minister worldwide and have people understand your message. But if you no want, stay there. But please shut up as well.

This shut up thing is uncalled for.Let us learn to make our submissions without any disrespect.I hope you can stand before Pastor Sonnie or Pastor Nat and tell any ot them to shut up because you don't agree with their point of view?Take your time please.

@@glamempire568 not at all. There's too much talk all involving Nigeria. Either Nigeria has something you can learn from, or not. When Nigerians offer suggestions, somebody has something silly to say. When Nigerians don't speak, then Nigerians are not looking out for Ghanaian artists. We're fine for Gh music to do it however it wants, but these talkers need to shut up about Nigerian industry. That's part of their problem - too much talk!

I think the songs "Way Maker", "Adonai", "Imela", "Olowogbogboro", "Hallelujah eh", "Ebenezer", "Oh be Lifted"above all other God's", etc. have all answered this question. No doubt, the ministers are anointed, but the reach also matters. Some are all English and some have infusion of Nigerian languages. ".....I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also" 1 Corinthians 14:15. "Way Maker" by Sinach has been translated to most of the languages used wherever believers are gathered together. Same with "Adonai" and other songs by Nathaniel Bassey have been translated to quite a number of languages. Other than English. Dear Ghanaian family, please, sing in understanding (English that Billions of people can understand and relate with), also infuse your tongue (Twi) just like our Nigerian families does. Don't keep the blessings to Ghana alone by sticking to Twi. The whole world should also enjoy your anointing. No argument or competition here. It is just a simple counsel that we shouldn't sensationalize. This is not jollof war or Afrobeats, please. Blessings!

What do you expect secular artiste to contribute to gospel discussions. As a Christian we don't vibe beat and melody alone, we need to hear the words to be moved. Ghanaians see everything from Nigeria as war. I wish Nigerians will ingnore these Ghanaians for peace to reign.

People don’t get it, gospel music isn’t like any other genre of music where you can just dance to it. In most cases you have to understand what the person saying to be able to relate to it or dance to it. Crossover to other market consistently is easier if you can speak a global language like English, or French etc. the Fante and twi are great but language matters a lot for your song to be played almost everyone. Which Ghanaian artiste can fill an arena in Nigeria or U.S with only local songs, you have to add English or else you’ll sing to your fellow Ghanaians in those countries.

I really wonder why some Ghanaians don’t seem to understand the simple message. Is it not COMMON SENSE? also why always try to compare with Nigeria in areas where you clearly should be learning? What am I missing here??? They keep complaining about how Nigerian songs are played in Ghana and then when we explain to them why, they disagree. Isn’t that confusing????

Um Ghanaian, this moderator is one sided and unprofessional, see the kind of question she’s throwing to guest “how far your English Gospel version taken you”😮. Mr Bullshit or Bulldog mind you, Jerusalema is not a Gospel song, the song that featured Burna Boy in remix, the singer and the producer aren’t Gospel Artists.

How many Chinese or French worship songs do you know or do we sing in church? This is gospel we are talking about. It is about sharing Jesus and his worship with the world. Don't be local go global. Jerusalema, or the Wombolobo song are not worship or praise songs either.

Please of what use is a Ghanaian gospel song in TWI to Nigerians or on a Nigerian stage? No value of whatsoever. Think of the impact of Sinach and Steve Crown songs on the world stage - "Phenomenon". What's the percent of Ghanaians that speak the TWI language, not to talk of the percentage of TWI speakers in West Africa or on the World at large. To me it's a no brainier what Nathaniel Bassey said about singing more in English to cut across the globe. A Yoruba song in Nigeria will even cut across more than a song in TWI. The Yoruba in Nigeria (and the World at-large) are more than the whole of Ghanaians in Ghana and in the World.

Jerusalema was not popularized as a "gospel" song, it was a dance trend/song, and even the word Jerusalem resonates globally. Yes, you can blow with a local language - you don't have to tell us Nigerians that, we thrive in it (Asake, Flavour etc.). But don't trap yourself in a box, is all Nathaniel Bassey and this guy are saying. Una too argue for pointless reasons.

There’s a reason bible was translated to English because English has become the global lingua franca. Even Celine Dion had to learn English to reach a wider audience and become a household name. Off cause there are some non English songs that will blow up but the ratio compared to English songs that have blown up is incomparable. Imagine trying to listen to a pastor in Chinese language without a Translator. Singing in English will reach a wider audiences and help people understand your song or message, and then mix it with your native language to promote your culture.

Ghanians are stubborn. they will take 1 issue and discuss it for ages, yet they wont change. Later they will cry that others are not playing their songs. if your do a song in your language, it has to be really good else those who dont understand the language wont listen to it. you have the change of reaching a larger audience then people understand what you are saying.

Ghanaian are difficult to advise or maybe because the advise is coming from a Nigerian, they have immediately turned the admonishing into Ghana Naija Jollof war. If this same instructions was from a white man, they will jump and leap to compliance. What Nath said is just common sense, I don't know why it has become so complicated to Ghanaians or maybe again because the advise is from a Nigerian. But come to think of it, Nathaniel Bassey was not admonishing them to do what they ordinarily can't do, so one wonders, what these whole fuse is all about? Maybe because Nath is a Nigerian. By the time you all come to realisation, time would have far gone, and you will sit down here and blame Nigeria for not supporting or streaming you music.
