Jokes on you! I got used to the controls enough when I started playing! When testing out the L and r buttons! To run smoother, you have to hold the L or R buttons while moving left or right to go through sharper turns. That helped me finish the first 2 tracks. But not Regal Ruin cause the way it’s made.

There's ways to skip that darn loop in Reactive Factory, do the Metal Knuckles race and you'll see him go off track to skip the fricking loop and also play the game like it's a racing game only Amy doesn't deceive your eyes making her a tad bit easier to play as but Sonic and the others control like cars so control them like cars and there's an updater for the PC version to make it look like the Saturn version without screen crunch. edit: The coconut missiles from the Egg-Robo and Eggman are useful, they completely make you lose your momentum if hit.

I think they tried to make this game a 3d plat former in a way. Sure, there's racing, but there's also lots of exploring the tracks for hidden items. There's also modes were you have to backtrack to get other items. It just doesn't work.

the thing is that the orignal saturn version of sonic R is different from the PC/GEMS version is that the saturn version is a bit different and for some people it is easier to control with the saturn controller. As for the graphics of saturn sonic R it does look a better personallly but at the cost of really bad draw distance which is personally tolerable but it requires more memorization because of it.
