PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do NOT sandblast the doors inside the apartment. If you sandblast them, do them OUTSIDE. I am the voice of greatly dissatisfied experience on this matter. The dust will remain in the air for a couple of weeks (as you breath in the particles), and it will land in/on the interstice in everything in your home. Try a paint remover that you paint on, cover with strips, and the paint will dissolve and peal off the next day. PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU.

Man, in these last few years being a huge fan of your work, I've the lost the count of how many times you posted a video that shared the exact same reflection I was having that week specifically. As someone who cant always express herself fully, it's so refreshing for me to come here and see you putting it perfectly into words and film. Ugh, thank you, man! That's why I love your work so much. It's just such a cool thing. I feel like we could be friends with how much we share of the same thoughts. Beautiful editing and I felt every word. I've been renovating my house in SW France for the last 5 years. I had a 3 year plan, nothing has gone to plan. Now I realise I have to enjoy every day for what is is - the life I chose even if its not quite how I envisioned it by now...hosting friends and parties, floating around my grand house and immaculate gardens in floaty dresses. It's all preferable to going back to sitting in an office every day which would fill me with true anxiety. Now back to the dust, brambles and dungarees.

Terrific video! It's always a nice and welcome twist to discuss the DON'Ts (in this case do's...?) that we oftentimes are so prone to running away from. I also love the honesty and transparency with which you show your difficult moments and how you face each one of them. All of this topped with amazing editing, as usual.

You managed to make me cry with this video. It truly gives a much needed perspective on how hamster wheel like mindset is sometimes overlooked but dictates how we end up feeling if we do not actively work on it. I am pregnant with my first baby (this probably had to do something with the tears after watching this) and I will definitely remember what not to do while tackling this great project ahead of me. I love your work. The guest room looks amazing, just missing some plants. :)

Bonne année and all the best in 2025. Love from Gensac.

Ages ago I studied Provocative Therapy by Frank Farrelly, a very uncommon and creative way to help people who are stuck in traumas, self doubt or whatever life threw at them. Your first part reminds me of this way of helping people. Your videographed piece of art is thought provoking, entertaining, serious, shocking, amusing, awesome. It’s like the internal chatter most of us have to endure, if we embarked on a giant project. Your room turned out so beautiful! And I you don’t need a super even floor, the stunning patina of old real wood floors is amazing, at least for my taste.

But the way I felt after 19 months of renovation, I was beyond thrilled about how it turned out but also that I was not afraid to learn and ask for help. It gives you the confidence to try anything. It takes away fears of failure when you push yourself through those times where you wonder, "What in the world was I thinking????" LOL. Looks amazing my friend!

Take it from a mid 40's person, who has been a DIY'r with our old house in our mid twenties and 30's. In our 40's we have given up and started hiring professionals (as in floor sanding experts, painters and builder). They are like preventatives to having to get mental therapy.

That is what the first few hours, days... maybe weeks of using that stick tool, looks like. I've been more decades than I care to admit, in the building trades. I do all of them - Jill of ALL trades. That stick sander tool is cantankerous at best. (not fun or easy to learn) I found it easier to sand w/o the stick, from a ladder, rather than fight that thing. I'm sure there are people who harmonize with that monster, beautifully. I am not one of them. There is NO shame in that. Always feel free to remember the end-goal and invent your own way to get there.

I love the decision to paint the floor. Floor sanding is a frigging black art and I’ve never attempted it myself. We live in a house built in 1827 and most of the floors are done this way. And yeah, it’s funny how people don’t agree about technique. Cutting in, for example. Lots of people will use tape. I hate doing that. I just go to the store and buy the most expensive sash brush I can find. Its works for me.
