TUNZE 9410 DC Skimmer. OMG! WOW What a skimmer!!!!

Thanks for the video Nathan. I was disappointed with my existing skimmer and spent a while choosing a replacement; your video helped me reach that decision. Having now set the Tunze up I am delighted with it. What a massive improvement over my noisy, over sensitive (prone to overflowing if the wind changed direction) old skimmer. I am not the most mechanical of people so when opening the box and seeing all the bits and pieces I turned to your video to watch you assemble yours. In a few weeks my Tunze 9410 DC will have been running two years perfectly. When new, like in the video, I only needed to be at the very bottom of the 'Air Control', in fact I would overrun the skimmer if I went above 50%. After almost two years I was able to increase more and more ... reason being, you need to clean it once in awhile! I hadn't cleaned it once all this time ... just did so 23 months in .... cleaning is super easy ... cleaned the impeller wheel ... cleaned the whole thing ..... and now it is back to pulling the nasty skim at a super low setting. Worth every penny, best skimmer on the market.

This is great to hear buddy! Mine has been running for 4 months now and love it I've just gave it a full pump clean and wasn't very dirty, now running it at 40/50% as im feeding heavily and have taken my filter sock out, best skimmer ive ever had and I've had so many over the years, love the fact that you don't have to keep adjusting the water level.

Just a quick info about Tunze skimmers, I also personally use. They don’t have to be cleaned regularly! The cup of course, but the body is good to go for couple years without intervention. I have that info from Claude Hug, former chief product designer of Tunze, now working with Sicce. My 9410 DC works since 2019 without hassle.

Think I might go for one of these when I get my bigger tank, I like the size and no tuning! I have the DOC 9004 on my 2ft Cube and it does a fantastic job, Great video 👍

Looks nice and snug in your sump! - I have a deltec on my large tank which is excellent but i went with a tunze for my smaller one as it was far more compact and was great at removing the skimate. Looking forward to your next upload :)

Really great content as usual mate, the only reason I’ve not got your model is my little sump isn’t big enough lol , but yeah I’m onto my 2nd Tunze skimmer now which is the 9004 and it’s faultless solid and dependable, which in this hobby is a great thing indeed. Solid German engineering mate. 😃👍👍

I followed your video mainly for the purpose of assembling , it's a great video and was able to run my skimmer in no time.however was never happy with skimmer noise level. I found the shorter end of silicon pipe should go to the Hydrofoamer and the longer silicon pipe should be attached to the nipple on skimmer body (Instructions for use : Page 26 image (1)) and that makes a hell of difference . It makes the skimmer very silent. May be you did it 4:32 other way for some good reason !

I've got the 9430 skimmer mate and it's a fantastic bit of kit. I'd just ditch the net bag as it'll be constantly clogging and is pretty useless once the skimmer has bedded in.

i have the doc version and i dont like the hummmmmmmmmm noise i try to place the skimmer at 6-7-8 the only difference is at 8 same sound and overflow at 6 same sound + i think the dc version at lower setting make the pump quiet, the doc version the pump run at max all the time :(even my fridge make less sound

Question. is the top wider than the base. Im asking becaause it could be a tight fit in my sump, the dimesnsions say 18 cm. But im unsure if thats the base or the top.

I have the exact same model and in my opinion it is loud as hell! Anything else is as you said, but i will replace it due to the noise its making Sad but true 😕

Strange! mine is extremely quite, the quietest ive ever owned, try turning round the way the air intake is connected as i had mine round the wrong way and it was noisy, something must be wrong as every review says its very quite as well, let me know dude.

Nathan Willard my Air intake is mounted so that the silencer is connected to the neck of it and the long silicon hose is connected to the pump - should be ok that way?

No, should be the other way round bud, switch it round and im almost sure it will be alot quieter, let me know be really interesting

I didn't tell her i got the new skimmer and she hasn't mentioned that she can hear it and she definitely would if she could hear it, when the tank doors are shut you really cant hear it, well im glad you have probably sorted it bud, let me know what she says haha
