Katha sounds as kat/tha کٹھہ (with phoneme of T in English and Urdu's ٹھ) which is the word for a "pond" in hindko language. Since it looks like sea, it's termed as pond of sea i.e. samander katha (lake is an addition in English only)

It's kat-tha... with tay in urdu and not katha!! Kat-tha means pond and Samundara Katha basically refers to the pond leading to the sea. The water from this place leads to Sea.

Don't visit samandur Katha lake it's very bakwas road leading to Lake is very dusty n narrow n lake itself is very fazool n dussapointing nothing special about it
