I visited twice before Modi Regime! Once in 1994,& then in 2004. I didn’t find any unrest from any side then. The civilians as well as the defence persons were living peaceful life even before 2014 and always. Sikkim has always been the most peaceful border with China!

The first time I visited Nathu La was in 2002. Even at that time the daily traffic was more than 1000 vehicles per day. After that I visited Nathu La in 2010, 2012 & 2014. Pretty peaceful even then. If you're talking about boarder skirmishes, that's in Pangong Lake in Ladhak where China has made inroads into the Indian side of LAC . Another disturbed area is the Yangtse area in the Tawang Sector in Arunachal Pradesh.

We went to sikkim late december and the day we were planning to go to nathula it started snowing half way through the journey. We had to return. Those who reached were stuck overnight n were rescued by army men. They were kept in their camp for a day till the snow cleared. Most of our trip got spoiled cause of snow as even north sikkim some high altitude parts were inaccessible. Lesson learned never plan sikkim trip during winters esp December onwards it might snow anytime. In north sikkim we didnt have electricity for two days because if snowfall. We enjoyed snowfall though. Year - 2021
