This is the old, complete German national anthem that isn't sung anymore completely. Only parts of it are now our national anthem. After WW1 and WW2 several areas, that are described in the first stanza, weren't German areas anymore and we want to live in peace with the people, who are living in those former German areas now. Therefore we don't sing the first stanza anymore. Many people wrongly think, we don't sing it anymore because of the line "Germany above everything". Many even wrongly think, that this stanza is forbidden. But both assumptions are wrong. The complete old anthem, that is the subject of your original video, is just not sung anymore. It's not forbidden. The line "Germany above everything" isn't meant as a chauvinistic looking down on other nations, like many people wrongly believe (for this error this complete anthem is highly disputed in Germany and everybody, who sings the complete anthem is deffamed as a fan of the "Austrian painter"). In reality "Germany above everything" is meant in this way: When the anthem was written as the "Deutschlandlied" (Song of the Germans) a unified state of Germany wasn't existing. Only countless little mini states with a German speaking population in a lose confederation. That made Germany weak and vulnerable to aggressors from outside. In those times the Song of the Germans was written and "Germany above everything" means, that the thought, the idea and the cause of unifying Germany to one unified nation was the most important task and urgent thing to do for all Germans. So you see: This version here is highly controversial. But mostly because the people don't know history, unfortunately.
