Indonesia is one of the few nations that got it's independence through a perilous war..........1945 - 1949 against the British + the Dutch..... Indonesia Raya was created by W.R. Suparuman in 28 October 1928 ,during the 2nd Youth Summit...... So the song is not just an anthem , but it has a lot of history and meanings......

i can sing many national anthems, but indonesian national anthem feels so special for me. there are at least 3 kind of national anthem in my opinion: 1) anthem that glorify the nation and bring spirit (i.e france, turkiye, israel anthem), 2) anthem that shows the beauty of the country (i.e iceland, wales, england national anthem), and 3) anthem that brings joy to the people and share the good news, sort of independency feeling etc (brazil, poland, saudi arabia national anthem). but for me, there are 2 national anthem that combine three of them, those are indonesian and russian national anthem

The song "Indonesia Raya" is the national anthem of Indonesia. This song became one of the birth points of the nationalist movement throughout the archipelago which supported the idea of a single "Indonesia" as the successor to the Dutch East Indies, rather than being split into several colonies. The red and white flag later became the Indonesian flag. Red means courage, daring to fight against invaders. Indonesia build from a thousand of culture, language and multi etnis whic is are heritage from the elder. Comonly the genesis of Indonesia are traditional kingdome at the old time. There are so many kingdome in here before they colapse.. Then after a long time no more kingdome here, people stand alone acording they etnic and religion. Long short story... When in 1945 after an Japan ocupancy defeat by US dan The Allies we declare our Freedom... But actualy in 1928 there are Youth Movement that called Sumpah Pemuda... Meaning All people who live in Nusantara only use a Bahasa Indonesia as formal language to comunicate each other. No mather what you etnic or came from. But use a etnic language to speak in daily are not forbiden... So mostly Indonesian Cituzen speaking in 2 language. Bahasa Indonesia in formal situation or talking with other etnic. Secondly speaking in their mother language which mean an etnic speaking. So if you meet someone who speak with a lot of bahasa in Indonesia don't be surprised... Coz here there are 700 diffirent language. In one country Indonesia. But we use Bahasa Indonesia for all solutions...
