National City Manual Green Waste Collection

After finding out that National City will be automating green waste in just a few weeks I came down here to get as much footage as possible. Thankfully there was a surplus of greens set out this time of year compared to the winter time when it was much harder to film.
M326 is the normal truck for green waste in the city with the awesome driver Michael behind the wheel. He collects green waste here Monday through Thursday and does automated greens collection on Friday's in Bonita. Monday's and Thursday's are the heaviest days in the city so he often gets help on those days by either 737 or 222. I was lucky enough to catch 737 helping out on the Monday I filmed here and 222 on the Thursday that I was here. A huge thanks to Michael for helping me track those trucks down. I have much more footage to come of M326 and 222 here so look out for that in the future. A big thank you to all of the drivers here for making this possible and I hope they enjoy having their new automated trucks.

Amazing to think these trucks are still out working routes and too bad they will be gone soon. They have such a great combined history that probably defined SoCals refuse industry for many years. That White was really fun to watch. Great work catching these.

NEVER a dull moment watching these guys at work! I love the looks of M326. So awesome how EDCO is still running it. Sucks they are finally automating though :( Haha at 2:37, I always find it funny seeing the green waste come out in the shape of the bin. Got some great hopper shots in those clips and wow, Michael sure hustles. Was he one of the long time veterans you were telling me about? 737 was a great looking truck as well, that body looks awfully small though haha I'd love to see that truck working semi-auto, hopefully it'll run in National City after they automate for a little bit. Congrats on getting to film 222 again! Fun little rig right there. Awesome stuff bro! Congrats on conquering National City greens!

damn Michael is one hell of an operator. 3:30 is where he really shines, hustling those bins around like an ESD greens guy. Too bad he's not the Neptune trash guy, that working style would really compliment Francisco's. I love how out of the 3 trucks, the one that's ~39 years old packs the best and seems to have the least problems. I can imagine that 737 guy being pissed about doing manual in National City if he's used to an easier route in a nicer area. The hopper shots turned out great, I loved seeing that except for the contamination, to be expected in a ghetto route I guess. Overall a very well shot and edited compilation, A+ work here, I can't wait for more of this footage.
