I made my way to your channel from a comment you posted in PNW Mushrooms on Facebook. I'm about three or four videos in now. I am brand new to foraging and live in southern Oregon. I love exploring nature and have always seen mushrooms growing, but always been afraid of them. Now I am fascinated, funny how things come full circle. I found Saffron Milk Caps (pretty sure) on my last outing at South Umpqua Falls in central Oregon. Thank you for your videos!

That's awesome. It's a lot of fun! If you get into it I'm sure you're going to be successful. Southern Oregon is really nice because you can probably find some in winter too. I've found Black Trumpets and HedgeHogs in the Applegate area even in February. Spring time you'll get a lot of morels out there and that's like mushroom hunting on another level.

Thank you so much for this info. I'm new to foraging. I found chantrelles and a few hedgehogs last year; but this year have not found anything choice edible yet. I live in the Eugene Oregon area.

Laura, the Cascades by you is where I first learned to pick chanterelles. If I remembered the spot I'd let you know. I think I found some driving to the coast off of 126 too.

I would go get them(or let me know where it's at : ). We've been doing a tempora and dipping them in Ponzu sauce and it's awesome!

Yeah, they are hard to find in good shape too. I don't think we've found one with a great stem but the caps are sometimes in good shape.

King Bolete/Porcini is not a polypore. It’s a Boletales. Polypore would be Reishi (Genoderma) for example. Never found Matsutake, thanks for that info.
