One of NG best documentaries, for it is as artistic as it is scientific

03:40 'Our eyes are the most developed of all living species.'.. What is that supposed to mean.
@merlinthegrayКүн бұрын
I was going to comment the same thing but then a few sentences later the narrator starts talking about cameras as eyes. I think it was a metaphor for how we've developed a whole range of mechanical eyes to augment our terrible biological ones. It's reinforced throughout with language like that. That line sure sounded full of hubris at first!

Our eyes are NOT the most advanced eyes of all living species, in fact we are on the lower part of that ladder! Comon Nat Geo, get youre better then that. But I'll give you a break since this was made in the 70's. lol

A very aged documentary! Perhaps 1970s?

1979 but so much of it is still relevant, and even the "wrong" bits are more incomplete than they are wrong. Actually rewatching this for the first time in decades I'm impressed with how much they thought the audience could handle, half of the technical lingo would have been cut if it were made today.

@@paulchattaway thanks for your great comment! I do not remember ever having seen this documentary before. I like your remarks about the "technical lingo"

i believe that science and religion are one in the same. we are all made in gods likness so science become god like. im not saying immortal or that through science we become god, im not saying that. but we are god like through technology. god and his are capable of flight and so are we bcuz we have airplanes. we dnt have gills but we have devices that allow us to breath under water.
