Please share that cool open tuning. I think this post shows the versitility of metel body. Check out Joel Peterson.

Great video. That looks REALLY like the one I had and traded with Lenny at vintagenationals back in 2010.

Great video, Marc! I own one (and am headed downstairs right now to check for the "bump")! mine unfortunately does not have the original cone, as it collapsed when being inspected for installing a biscuit with a highlander pickup...any recommendations re: replacement cones and repair shops in the Atlanta area?

I don't see a 'hump' on my '31 Triolian, but there is a noticeable line at that spot, top and bottom.

Ever come across a Duolian with a Troilian neck on it??. Mine is stamped Duolian on headstock. The serial number is 2980 W which tells me it's a trolian.????? Green in color 12 fret early 30s guitar

Not all fretboards failed...Mine is original. You wanted to replace it.

Are you saying you had a perfectly good fretboard, and he wanted to replace it. ..?

@@nationalduo4945 Yes and No. I had/have a 1931 Duolian with an authentic original fretboard with the original frets. He wanted to replace that. Turns out mine had not actually failed. I found a guy who repaired it. But even though it was repaired and restored, it sucked. The guy who repaired it did the job right but IMO if I went back in time and picked up a 1931 off the shelf for $35 it would suck by today's standards. So I think Marc wanted to make it a playable1931 Duolian. Since I am a picker and not a museum curator I think Marc was right. So yes it is a perfectly good 1931 fretboard, but perfectly good 1931 fretboards suck.

@@weltraumaffe4155 ok….I have a 31 Duolian with an original with an amazing ebony board, so I guess in the early days everything differed greatly. I only play slide on it, so the worn orig frets are not an issue…

@@nationalduo4945 Mine was definitely not ebony. It was that shitty particle board Marc showed in his video. It's funny that you asked because I took it to a guy last week who is a KZbinr and he is replacing it with an ebony. Maybe he will make a vid about it.
