My favorite national instrument is the Đàn bầu of Vietnam. It's a unique instrument native to Vietnam, but unfortunately China attempted to copy it under Chinese name "duxianqin", claimed that it's Chinese instrument because there is an ethnicity living in Guang Xi China called Jing, which is the primary ethnicity in Vietnam. It's like the Morin Khuur of Mongolia become the "matouqin" of China, and the Arirang of Korea become Chinese folk song, all on grounds of Mongolian and Korean living in China recognized as two of official 56 ethnicities of China. And of course all the 3 countries defy China claims.

Interesting how many countries have something that are related to (and played vaguely like) the guitar as their national instrument as compared to how few have any kind of non-stringed instrument or a stringed instrument played differently (e.g. with a bow or something)

Brazil's is not viola caipira. Capira means yokel, and it's the people from the countryside/rural part of Brazil. So viola caipira is a type of guitar the countryside people use to play their typical countryside music like música caipira or moda de viola (yokel music). The National instruments of Brazil can be attributed to either the cavaquinho, the pandeiro or the bandolim, which are the most common instruments of the brazilian popular music. One of these three.

Really great video! I missed Iranian instruments though, especially since most string instruments originate from Iranian Tār and also instruments like the Koto (or rather it's Chinese counterpart) are a direct descendent from the Iranian Santur. It's saddening to see how much a culture, so important for the history of musical instruments and therefore music in general get's ignored. Still a good Video, though, definitely like worthy

I enjoyed your video, but am utterly disappointed that you have no instruments from West Africa!! So many genres of music in North, Central, and South America have their roots from musical styles of the West Africans and the instruments they created. Even the banjo came to the Americas with the enslaved people from Africa. KnowledgeAble, I hope to see this inclusion in your next collaboration of music.
