They even poked fun at that in Vegas Vacation when Clark says “you kids are growing up so fast I don’t even recognize you anymore” and there’s a long pause of Clark staring at Audrey and Rusty in confusion like he really doesn’t recognize them anymore because Rusty & Audrey have been played by more actors than James Bond & Batman lol

And the dream sequences on the airplane,in the second film, were probably the funniest part of the whole movie. And the reboot sucked? Idk if ppl know wtf is actually funny anymore. Chevy Chase going through stale contractually obligated films, like European, Vegas Vacation movies. Retreading the same stupid Clarke, minus the comedic intensity,or timing,or emotion for that matter of the 1st film, and the Christmas Vacation. They say that the reboot wasn't necessary,or needed. No it wasn't. But as a comedy, yes it was, because it was very funny! The Griswold's going to Europe wasn't needed either, and was even less funnier than the reboot. And there definitely was not any need for a Vegas movie, which was at this point stale, boring, actually hard to even sit through. The Christmas film was actually needed,it was different, they were home, and new elements were introduced,it was new to see them at home living their day to day lives with an overcrowded house of relatives, and some very funny Clarke family Christmas traditions..Even just getting the tree was hilarious. But the reboot had a plot,a story, and it was Rusty taking his family on one of those family vacations that his father would take them on as kids, and at every stop was a descent laugh,or joke,or scenario,or great cameo, I mean this may or may not have been a cash grab to reboot, but it was funny as hell, and easy to get through. It's even very rewatchable. Lastly,it puts European, and Vegas Vacation to shame. Unless you're a complete Chevy Chase mark ,and believe that without Chevy,(which he did cameo in), it's no good. Well I'll tell you,he was great in the 1st Vacation and Christmas Vacation, after that, and in between I should say,he really wasn't that great,or that funny. By Vegas Vacation, Clarke's humor was stale and fizzled miserably, playing second flute to Randy Quaid s Cousin Eddie,as he had become the funnier character in the series, replacing the top billed Chase, for the main source,if any I remember, laughs in the film. On screen we could all easily see how badly Chase didn't want to be in that film, and how glad he was to be playing Clarke for the last time. Regardless of the fact that this film series made his carrier as far as being very funny, ntm as even seen in his Fletch movies,Chase was playing the same character type. The sarcastic, and loveable baffoon, in some movies less, some movies more, bit all movies same. The same stale fucking idiot, with moments of happy accidents that he would stupidly overlook that would save the day. You could say Chevy Chase was more or less playing the same person in each movie, dialed either up or down,a very one dimensional character actor. I honestly believe he really can't act,or act beyond this character type. And I say this because this is what we have always seen him play or portray in his entire catalog of movies. A 40 or so year career making millions, becoming at this point an icon of comedy, playing the same character in every role. This is something that an actor really couldn't get away with today, and have a lifelong career in film doing. But I will get into that another time. Chevy Chase is not a good actor at all, anyone could've been Clarke Griswold, and if they were a real actor, you may have laughed more,or harder. Think about this, you could've been Clarke W Griswold. "Okay just act like a moron, completely oblivious to yourself, your family,or your surroundings,ready,3,2,1, action! How hard is that? Well how many movies has Chase starred in? That's how hard it is. Ntm,he also has the nerve to be "hard" to work with. Well when you really can't act Chevy! And the only roles you take, and are good at playing are complete idiots, doing and saying idiot things, than you are kind of stuck doing this your whole career! And the reason being you can't act! So how could he be hard to work with? He knows what his part is,the only thing I could think of is all the money's getting to the man's head, because getting by as a lifetime career making millions playing the same old bumbling dumbass in a different situation?! Wtf!? This man should be far from miserable,or hard to work with. He should be thankful, happy, and thanking god every single day!!! Why? Because Chevy Chase is a millionaire, who will go down as a comedy legend, and he simply can't act, he's not an actor. He,like anybody else, can follow verbal directions, not like you would need any of your portraying a dumbass father,or dumbass cop,or a dumbass golfer,or a dumbass on a farm,or an invisible dumbass! Bottom line, the keyword is dumbass! So what happened, someone tell him to do something in a film that was more dumber than what he's use to doing!? Or maybe one of the directors suggested that he have a serious moment,a moment involving real acting? Has anyone seen Chevy Chase in a drama, action ,scifi,or even a horror movie where acting is notoriously bad? Nope. He won't even take his chances trying to act in a horror movie that has horrible actors. Nope. Sad thing is,in Chevy's eyes, he's too good for that, too good for them, he's better than anyone, and if you don't think so,he will tell you! Trust me! The best actor,on this planet ever! That can only, and will only, and refuse any other acting roles, bit only the roles of a fucking idiotic baffoon. And yes he made a comfortable life out of this, but aside from even making good money on that Community TV show(which he did make great money), what and where the hell has Chevy Chase been,or been doing for the past 20 or so years? I think the last time he was in a feature film was in the early 90s,in a very terrible, again simply unwatchable, plotless, storyless, very stupid and dumb absolute dumpster shit fire movie called Nothing But Trouble, which bombed at the box office, and deservedly so. It sucked! Chevy was the lead but 5his movie also had John Candy,Dan Aykroid, and Demi Moore, ppl who can act,it even had Digital Underground,a musical group that was on fire at the time. And it was just a mess of a movie, just complete nonsense that didn't make sense. And with all that talent, well Chevy was the lead as well as Demi Moore, they were playing a couple,Demi was acting how a normal woman would in a completely nonsense, and weirdass situation, and Chevy was Chevy,he was Clarke Griswold,he was Fletch,he was the same fucking character as he always is,dialed a bit up,or a bit down. Where you expecting me to say Chevy was playing something or someone different. A total idiot,as usual, dialed a bit down for this role. The real problem with this movie was that Dan Aykroyd directed it, I think he may have wrote it as well, but he definitely had a lot to do with this film. I think, that in the wake of Ghostbusters, which Aykroyd wrote mostly, the studio was confident in him to deliver,I doubt they read the damn story or anything. I can't see if they read this pile of nonsense, that they would greenlight it,so Aykroyd had free range to make whatever the fuck that was. Point is,I haven't seen old Chevy in a starring role since that film,1991 I think. And he was only probably asked to star in the film because HELLO!!!! These guys have known each other forever, Aykroyd was on SNL back in the 70s starting up the original cast for the show. I also heard that Dan and Chevy had somewhat of a falling out before, during,or after filming this movie so idk wtf he even had Chase in the movie for,I know he's a big name, and the shittier a movie is,the bigger the names you want,to draw eyes to it,simple marketing trick. By that time Chase's roles where slowing down, his character was now stale, and instead of paying big money for a problematic and bad attituded Chevy Chase, you could save much more money making a film with a real actor without the big name to play the easiest role in a film,a complete moron,so we really haven't seen Chevy Chase in pretty much anything but maybe one movie, tops, and recently a TV show, which he was fired from, for his poor attitude. But,it doesn't matter, he's always going to be remembered,he will always be considered an icon of comedy and film, and has had a great career,a successful career, and has been a millionaire for some time.
