Not only a great museum, but wonderful people in this beautiful town. In 2005, our family went to a national gathering of Iwo Jima veterans. We took our late father, Elisandro Martinez, who was a Navy combat veteran who fought at Iwo Jima. When we broke for lunch, our family went to eat at a popular, local restaurant. When it came time to pay our bill, the manager saw my Father's black and gold Navy cap. When my father tried to pay the bill, the manager told my dad, "Sir, your money is no good here, today your meal is on the house. because your wearing that ca

What a wonderful gesture that only reinforces the attitude of our friendly state and it's patriotism. My father is gone now, but I will never forget my final memory from that trip. My father got to ride in the parade to honor all the veterans. When the parade came to it's end, a group of young school children handed roses to all the old veterans. When my dad got his rose from the young child, the battle hardened combat veteran, covered his eyes and wept. At that moment, I am sure he was remembering all his comrades who never made it home. Thank you Fredericksburg for what you did for my father. The greatest generation, may we never forget. Nat Martinez

@@nathanielmartinez6801 that is a wonderful memory!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!! Something I really enjoyed about visiting the museum was just how many amazing stories that the people who work there had that are so similar to yours and I think that’s what makes the place itself so special to so many. Not to mention as you said the community which surrounds is a wonderful place to visit and have a feeling of home no matter where you are from.

As a Navy veteran...and a student of WW2 history...I gotta say... Excellent excellent video...well thought, and well-explained as for what a visitor should expect. This museum is on my bucket list...hafta-hafta go! What you did is particularly special...because you did it during the peak of the pandemic...👍👍👍 The museum needs to hire you to be the social-media chief...just sayin... Cheers! JerBear Charlotte USA PS. One minor thing you may want to change...the original Lexington (CV-2) - yes, the 2nd American carrier EVER built (that we see in the video)....was sunk in the Battle of Coral Sea. They built a new one just a few years later, which also fought in the Pacific... that's the one you visited in person. No biggie...maybe a small subtitle correction... KZbin thing...cheers again

The sub was cut up into pieces...any reason why? Could it not have been secured as an outdoor memorial on a concrete base? Just curious... Standing over the Arizona Memorial in Hawaii, leaves you breathless, thinking of the sound of aircraft dive bombing on the very site you stand....very sad. ON a happier note, how did you drive your "van" to this area? lol Wait, this is Texas? I thought you were in Guam lol

Nice tour, but you have to be more careful in reading the captions: there is a big difference between Hiroshima (a city that had the first A-bomb dropped on it) and Hirohito (the Japanese emperor during WWII and the Cold War). A 3" shell does not have a "bullet" but rather an explosive warhead.

My goal is always more so to show people what is out there in hopes that it will inspire them to get out and explore the museums. There’s so much to this museum it’s one of the most in-depth in detail museums I have ever been to so it quickly becomes overwhelming for a regular person like myself. I do find that place is like this are absolutely amazing though because they do serve such a vast purpose overall.
