It is no secret to anyone that Colombia is a powerhouse in biological and cultural diversity. This wealth is represented in 59 natural areas that are part of National Parks, areas that cover more than 142 thousand square kilometers of the territory.
Of the 59 parks, 36 have an ecotourism vocation.
"We are one of the three most biodiverse countries in the world: we are first in birds, second in plants, third in palms, hundreds of mammals and we are the fifth country in diversity of primates", explains Erwin Palacios, director of participatory conservation strategies .
However, much remains to be done. Orlando Molano, director of National Natural Parks, speaks clearly and estimates that 700 billion pesos are needed to fix them.
