I loved this. The premise is confusing at first, but once you get it it’s heart breaking. There are too many things, positive/negative that you can fill those blanks with. I love it.

I think he's being careful, because his truth may not align with someone else's, so he just makes us fill in what we think is the truth for ourselves. Maybe haha, because other people's convictions have a way with clashing with ours.

@kylovesart10 жыл бұрын
Pretty trippy poem but yeah. Basically what he means is that there are too many options, too many truths that can fill in the silence for him to say one and be completely honest.

I’ve watched this poem a plethora of times and have decided this is hands down in my “Top 3” favorite poems of all time. I’ve realized a truth in watching it this time: maybe it’s not him being silent…maybe it’s truth running 🏃♂️ away from its on honesty that it can’t fathom anymore as is now tortured and tires of convolution.

so, maybe he was leaving the gaps so people could fill in their won answers and make it more personal to them. or for people to fill in the gaps and think about their life and the people they surround themselves with. i mean. I listened to it with my best friend. when he got to the "dad, i am so _______ of you" she said proud , I said ashamed .

I'm amazed that he and all these poets know all this stuff from memory! I am NOT a poet! I think my favorite poet is William McGonagall as I understand his poetry! I'm sure this is good stuff though, it is just that I find it difficult to understand such things! I have a useless memory, it is like a sieve!

either your favourite poet IS McGonagall... or he is not... how can you not be sure
@mikefuller69599 жыл бұрын
+Sundus Mohsin No, I don't believe artistic appreciation is a black or white thing like that! Sometimes I appreciate William McGonagall's poetry most of all but not always. It depends on mood, what my situation in life is at the time and whether I wish for deeper or more simple poetry as the mood I'm in and my mind suits me.
@mikefuller69599 жыл бұрын
+Mike Fuller I think for the main part of my enjoyment through poetry, McGonagall is pretty much my favourite.
