National Redline Day Challenge - Hot Wheels Beach Bomb Restoration

Diecast OutKast announced the National Redline Day challenge in February. The challenge commemorates the release of Mattel's Hot Wheels on May 18, 1968. A list of all channels participating in the challenge can be found at the link below.
This video documents my restoration of the Hot Wheels redline Volkswagen Beach Bomb, first released in 1969. The Beach Bomb is one of the most popular original redline era Hot Wheels cars. It came in a variety of spectraflame colors with both dark and light interiors. The blister pack also included a "hippy flower power" decal sheet. The production Beach Bomb was first released in 1969 and ran until 1971. It has the surfboards mounted in side pods with a very large sun roof. The glass is tinted blue. It was made only in Hong Kong, and most Beach Bombs have bearing type wheels although later production cars have cap-style wheels.

Nice job restoring this beach bomb! I'm attempting my first redline restoration now. A neet streeter. I'm also attempting my first specraflame paint job even though from what I'm told it didn't come with one. It's either going to be really cool or a total disaster but I'll learn something I'm sure. @@JaysDiecastCreations The casting had some changes as the rear rumble seat was cast shut, the plastic air intake was added and the base was modified for a more agressive rake 😉
