Always the wisest person in the room. Beautiful, gracious, humble, and just works his ass off. Feeling very lucky to have him, in my lifetime, writing in and on America

An Iranian woman living here in the Netherlands bought "Between the World and Me" and gave it to me so we could talk about it together because she wanted to understand how it is that so many Black people in America are being killed by police and nothing is being done about it. I read the book. I needed to cancel an appointment the next day because I had to finish the book. When I finished the book, I read it again. Then I got the book for several of my other friends. It is not translated into Dutch yet but many of my pals here read English. Get this book. Read it. Get it for your friends. Read it again.

I read the excerpt of the book on The Atlantic while traveling in Asia, I was all teared up by the power of the words. It was moving and got deep under my skin because it felt so real. I have read his first book " The Beautiful Struggle" and it was impressive and now this one is definitely a must read too. Thanks Mr. Coates for making me better to see clearly the things that my eyes need to see.

I remember living in Madras Oregon and my son was outside playing with his air soft when the pizza lady called the police saying we were letting a child run around with a loaded weapon, he came up like a vigilante , i was so scared for my son. I was like this man could have shot my son had i not jumped out and said something. This world is way to quick to jump. My heart goes out to the lil angel of Gods family everyday :(

Non fiction. LOL. More like a book of fairy tales.
