There are certain times that certain ceremonies can be performed. That is why traditionally the need to know the moon cycles was so important.
Today our Navajo people have adopted the 12 month calendar.
In this video Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about the moon cycles. Of course the moon cycles don't match up exactly with the months but they are close.
Enjoy the video.

This needs to be more celebrated in a physical calender. I know I would buy one! 13 moon cycles in a year just makes more sense. 28 times 13 = 364 + one day for celebration/worship/reflexion. Think of it like this, we could still keep the 7 day week and Sunday is always the 1st, 8th. 15th. and 22nd. On the Spring or Fall Equinox (you tell me) would be New Years Day! Literally no Sun-Sat for one day. NYD Just makes more natural sense to me based on what I've learned. For the record I choose the Spring Equinox for New Years Day!

We don't even need a 7-day week necessarily if another number, more informed by newer information from our God/Spirit/Creator/community etc. suggests it's time for another, since the week length isn't ancillary to an actual (meta)physical cosmic process of the year. 7 does fit so nice into 28 and it's a highly regarded spiritual number, though.

👍 Many yrs ago I checked a book of "calendars" out from a local library. It had names for every 2 weeks (14 days) of the year, some very similar to what is presented here. It was a Chinese calendar which is also "Lunar". I just find this topic so interesting. I have wondered my life why in French the word for "Christmas" is No' El ......Ne' Ol is SO similar! I finally found the connection!🎉😊

Very interesting. I had just watched a video the day before and it was saying that we used to have 13 months in the year and it was later changed to 12. I think it said the months were 28 days. New year wasn't January. I can't remember when it's supposed to be, march I think? Anyway, it's interesting that these two videos talking about this have suddenly shown up so close together for me to watch.

Thank you for your teachings 🙏Interestingly, lunar calenders were used all over the world in old times. The ancient cultures of Europe used lunar calenders as well. Here too, the New Year was considered to start either October/November or March/April, depending on the nation's culture. Also, names were chosen for practical reasons or according to nature's events. It seems quite logical to organize life around the lunar cycles, so it happened all over the world and connects humankind. Just imagine our ancient ones looking up to the moon, in order to organize their year's path - no matter what continent you come from now - it was the same moon (and it is the same moon now). 🌛

So much more intuitive. I’ve always felt the energy of these cycles and found it hard when I lived in situations where the winter was most active. I lived in a Colorado ski mountain town and worked in restaurants and catering. Most people live there to ski all winter. They couldn’t understand how I would prefer to hang out with a book or my journal instead. I had to recharge on my off time in a more quiet setting as I worked long hours in busy places. I also lived in NM and AZ for many years. The four corners area feels like ‘home.’ TY for sharing this wisdom. It was similarly practiced by other cultures, including the ancient Celts and other European practices before the big trees were all cut down, and their nature-based practices were shunned.

As I see it - based on the beginning and ending of things - seems to me that beginnings begin after endings! We start all over again. Obviously - nature appears to play a role! Weather is not the same around the world (as an example: America’s Spring is in March) and that is when the Winter ends as well. So - this is not based on my personal opinion - but my personal experience! The reality of what I lived through and as the Truth of what I’ve seen. Also - there are more meanings to what we have been experiencing in life learned by various other sources. One thing that I find fascinating is how the names of the days of the week and the names of the months seem to reveal a sequence of order - but I was not able to recognize that until I discovered where these names came from. This Navajo Teaching is very enlightening and has caused me to rethink my own analysis. This is something I know is going to take some time to review - I also accept that it is necessary to Take the Time! 🎉♥️🙏🏾🥰

I so enjoy your teachings of the traditional ways. There is much to learn that was removed from tradition. Wouldn't it be wonderful for many of the natural traditions to be utilized again? ❤

It is 4/8/2024. Apparently we made it through the eclipse. I find this to be a comfortable place for over 2 years now that I tune into. Many thanks.

Grandfather, can you tell us more about the stories of the Earth Changes that, though are subtle now, will begin to become more apparent in the near future?
