yesss i love that you did this. much prefer seeing videos like this than "thanksgiving food". let's continue to change the distorted narrative we've been taught and honor the indigenous people who originally were the sacred Keepers of the Land... may their Spirits live on through mindful choices and expression with awareness, like this video :) thank you

I love when you do these deep dives into culinary heritage, as you know, and especially appreciate how tactfully you handle this time of year and the upcoming holiday. This recipe looks richly flavored and satisfying to make, and no doubt to eat! TFP, and I wish you a happy Thanksgiving Day, a good concept that we should commemorate with accuracy.

i love that you have this political energy bubbling under everything you do ~ activism takes many forms and can also be cooking ~ i have found cooking native american and other indigenous food a great way to start important conversations ~ also cooking vegan food is a great way to start talking about climate + food justice ! thanks so much honestly

This looks awesome and this video is perfect timing as I'm reading a book all about the last warrior Chief of the Comanches named Quanah Parker. The book is "Empire of the Summer Moon". With that said, I remember going to Native American festivals and the "Indian taco" they sold there was basically a large round fry dough with all types of taco fixings. Nonetheless, it's because of the Americas that we have squash, corn, beans, chilis, and tomatoes.

I’ve met Chef Sherman and the recipes are incredible. Unadulterated food. Good for the body, soul and the earth. Side note: I’ve you’ve ever eaten or prepared grits, you’ll know it takes a while before the corn cake magic happens. Good job!

I'm so happy to discover this! I meant to order the Sioux Chef's book, but as a vegan, I thought it probably would be difficult to adapt the recipes. We don't have dried seitan strips here in France, which look really good, but I guess any good or home-made seitan can do! Thank you for this! 🙏❤

Could you post a source for Yeast Exrtract that isn't Marmite? I like Marmite, but am interested in a less salty alternative for cooking.
