I've been using the M32 and A49 for a few years now. The M32 gets far more use these days as it's a great little midi keyboard and has all the control that the A49 has.That said the A49 has more range of course and the pitch and mod wheels are far more accurate for subtle adjustments. Consider getting both and you will be well covered on the midi key front.

There's something really satisfying about playing drums with keys, producers have been using keyboards to make beats for decades. :)

@@SanjayC Oh hey, I actually came here to ask a question about the m32 but I got distracted by this 😂 anyway, I'll be abroad for an internship for 6 months or so and can't go without making music for that long so I've been looking at the m32. Just wondering how the keys feel compared to a "normal" keyboard. I can't play this anywhere locally, and my brother has an Akai but I hate those keys. I know you mentioned the keys a bit in the video, but if you were to compare them to a normal scale keyboard, are they similar or do they have that bouncy/stiff feel? Thanks :)

NI has been killing it lately, what an awesome company. I bought a maschine mikro like two weeks ago after I've been doing everything manually within ableton, after discovering and playing around with that and reaktor i haven't used ableton at all and now really the only time I'll even use it is for sequencing and mastering. Everything is so easy to use and you really can just go straight from the box to producing even if you dont know a damn thing about any of it. My only regret is getting the mikro instead of the maschine mk3 because the mikro doesn't do standalone mode, i was afraid to drop a bunch of money and having to spend like a month figuring out how to use it, now that ive actually found out how easy all of it is to use i should have just spent the dough, all of it is so amazing. I cant wait to add the kontrol to my set up. Ive had a mpk mini for a long long long time and I think I've spent maybe 3 weeks of actually using it in the 3 or 4 years ive had it, I hated it and its always felt broken to me. NI stuff just works straight away which is the way it should be. Another thing about the mikro I dont like is its sequencing, but like I said before im using ableton for that so its not even an issue.

Nice to hear you're enjoying your NI experience. hey, if you've got a little extra cash to spare, consider going with the S-Series keyboard. Nice you have the Mikro, you'll benefit from the screens on the S-series. They are totally worth it. I go through the difference between the NI keyboards here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5KZq6uNfdSro5o

The only big downside I can see about M32 is the lack of midi-class compliance. I'd like to also use it with my ipad and iphone apps. That also provides built-in redundancy since you're not completely dependent on NI's custom drivers. At some point they'll no longer support the product and the drivers won't be updated to work with a newer OS.

Yeah, I've heard the compliance drawback before.

Is the lack of after-touch on the M32 a problem? I'm considering buying it, and I'm wondering should I instead go for a keyboard with after-touch.
@solyarisoftware7 ай бұрын
Hi Sunjay, Thanks for your helpful reviews! I purchased the M32 after watching your video. However, after many months of usage, I have to complain about the touch strips. In my opinion, they are very poor in quality. Firstly, I often unintentionally touch them with my left hand, especially the ModWheel, which frequently controls the dynamics of sample libraries. I don't know why, but the touch sometimes causes a reset of the strip, resulting in the overall volume (dynamic) being reset. I only realize this after minutes of wondering why the library is suddenly silent. So, in my opinion, the major flaw of this keyboard is the presence of these useless touch strips and also unnecessary keys. As an orchestral music composer, I would instead appreciate two real hardware sliders on the left of the keyboard as a replacement for the touch strips, along with fewer useless buttons and rotary knobs. That's just my opinion. The M32 with sliders would be a great keyboard. Another minor issue is the position of the USB connector: in that position, the keyboard takes up a lot of space on a small desktop. It's a pity. Anyway, I want to thank you again for your efforts in your great reviews. Nothing personal, but for me, Native Instruments fails in both hardware devices and sample libraries. Giorgio

I have recently bought arturia minilab3 (25 keys)...what tempts me to buy this KOntakt M32 is the free KOMPLETE 14 Select that comes with this keyboard. Otherwise I do not see it as tempting as Arturia minilab3. But otherwise this doesn't look today to go for...25 or 32 keys...both are too small number of keys...though any beginner too should go for 49 keys minimum...its really not that comfortable to work with the OCtave buttons on a 25 and 32 keys keyboard. Trying to decide whether I should buy this or not. Today's price tag - 139 USD, KOMPLETE 14 Select has a price tag of 99USD...so just pay 40 dollars more and you get a 32 keys keyboard...that's how I am looking at it. Well. Thanks for your review.

I went with the m32 because it’s nice and portable. I also wanted a keyboard that gave me effortless access to synth parameters without assigning controllers and such, m32 is a big winner at that! Hi, thanks for this review! I'm a bit torn whether I should go for the Akai MPK mini Plus, or the Native instruments M32. Mostly I compose orchestral music with Native instrument plugins, which is why I naturally leaned towards the M32 at the beginning naturally (though sometimes I can for sure work with electronic music and sound design as well), I can also say that the Aesthetic and minimalistic elegant design of the M32 is by far the best (though the Akai does look somewhat ok still). The advantage of getting the Akai would be the additional keys and maybe also some of the additional controls (if I would use them). But I honestly think that the keys of the M32 feels nicer than the Akais (which felt a little floppy and weak). So I already have a 88 controller when composing more complex stuff, which is why I think that a smaller and portable 32/37 Controller can be a nice addition, but the question is whether I should get the M32 or the Akai. Which one would you recommend for my case? Thanks again for the nice review!

I love mine, only issue I had was I ordered one originally and it was pre registered or open box that caused me a lot of issues, after receiving a replacement that was not opened it works flawlessly. I recommend ordering from a legitimate source like, Guitar center, sweetwater,.Amazon sometimes sends you open box items that are hard to detect, so be careful, I learned the hardware as my original one I had would not work with logic at all due to it being registered by another user and I spent hours and days trying to get the transcoders to work. It was painful.
