Stoni is on it! Cutting through all kinds of BS to call it exactly how she sees it... She's a "Subject Matter Expert", and in my opinion, she is spot on! Love that she get's Ski to talk about/explain some of the things in his flow that aren't automatic. She's pulling out some of the essential details that would other wise be lost. LOVE the free advice near the end as well... She's speaking from experience... It's always the people that don't have any experience that don't think they need any. "Take Classes"... Yes!... I love seeing professionals encourage others to learn more and perfect their craft. STONI ROCKS!!!

folks want to ask all kinds of questions that have nothing to do with the product. she has to mediate those forums or else they'll be in the weeds all day discussing basics. they took their time with the product-specific workflow concerns, which is what they're there for. good job on her part.

penile 1 Applying "Swing" on the drum. The Swing is something that allow to go from binary (2:4, 1:2, 4:4) to ternary rythmn (3:4, 1:3, 6:8). What it does is having earlier or later hits, slightly out of regular binary steps. It's something we can find in Jazz and many of music style, including R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, etc... It creates some "grooving" drums that doesn't sound like being done by a straight regular machine, but more like a human feel drummer. On most of drum machine such MPC, Maschine, etc... there's some feature called Swing that allow to apply this "time shifting" of some part of the drums to have this effect. What people called: swinging the drum. I hope it help to understand. If not, look up on KZbin about "Swing" feature on MPC or Maschine. You should find some video/audio example :)

I attended and there were definite issues with the way it was run. Ski Beatz was great but I wish the moderator reigned things in a bit. A lot of people asking production questions instead of Maschine questions and she let those people keep going and going. And the whole thing was mostly Q and A. There should have been more explanation. I already have maschine but i was hoping to learn some stuff and that didn't happen really. It was fun to see ski beatz though.

@RamonRodgers9 жыл бұрын
I don't know what the fuck the problem is on these comments. I completely disagree. Honestly they just sold me with using Maschine in the DAW. I stayed away from this and other similar systems (even the MPC) because I was so used to doing it myself from the DAW, And he's right, it takes me a lot longer! I also don't like having two separate rigs for performing live, in other studios, or in the DAW. I use Cubase, not Ableton, but now I understand how I would still integrate Machine without multiple interfaces and workflows. This is the first time I am seriously considering getting it.

@aboelkes4208 жыл бұрын
Sean Florentz ive got an mpc tpuch and dont get me wrong, i like it. but theres so much fluff. i feel like since ive never used an older mpc (1000, 2000xl, etc) a lot of it caters to those users instead of someone like me who learned to produce on a DAW.

aboelkes420 maybe so but just check out youtube for tutorials, i saw a lot of producers like zaytoven and honorable c note using them as well as MANY others using what i assume is the software, enough people "seemed' to be using it so i got one, not even for the sampling, but youtube can help... i never used an mpc but I'm fairly experienced at using hardware so i could figure it out or type in google when i have a question

No disrespect IceBreaker165, but using anything is technically "sampling" unless you've invented the instrument or sound used. Sampling is just what music creators do, who maybe can't particularly play instruments or recreate what they want to use. However, I think I understand what you meant. Respect to you!

The both the same in terms of musci making but the studio has more feedback and sometimes better control due to dedicated buttons and such. The Studio is nearly impossible to bring along where as the MK2 or Mikro is really portable. If you have the cash and plan to use it at home or in your studio then definitely get the Studio.

I've never produced music yet, so this looks super confusing to me haha. It would take me forever to figure out how to use the machine and a program, like Ableton.
@soundsandwords8 жыл бұрын
yes. you really need to spend time learning the basics of production and DAW use. too many people waste money on fancy hardware thinking it's magic beans. they are upfront about the need to learn production and sound concepts FIRST. i recommend doing a lot of production work with the bare bones first. get a DAW you like and a midi controller. learn what everything means and does. when you figure out how you like to work, take that experience and artistic license with you to the equipment store.

Yeah right. I'm MPC for life dog. MPC would murder that garbage. It's so funny that the MPC 2000xl came out in like 1992 and to this day in 2015 they still can't make a sampler that does a better job. Most software samplers are not even samplers at all. LMAO - All these software company's are Akai's bitch !
@famousarmystudio9 жыл бұрын
junelopez215 this goes straight to what Stoni was saying. "Learn". First off neither the MPC series hardware or Maschine produce any sounds. Both use converters. The MPC uses its own converter on the output and input. Maschine uses whatever converters you purchase (the uneducated will call this a soundcard). It's so tiring hearing people talk about MPC sounds better. The truth is the MPC sounds unique due to it's input and output converters from analog to digital then out from digital to analog. Maschine will however sound as good or as bad as your converters. You could spend $100 and get a cheap usb IO (converter), or you could spend $3000 and get a very high end IO. The trick to the MPC is that, compared to todays technology, the MPC converters are fairly low quality, but that is why it has "that sound". The same goes for the sp1200 with its 12bit sampling. The sp1200 uses its own converters on the input and output, so its has its own unique sound. Before anyone flames me, I do own and have worked with all of these machines mentioned.
