Thank you for your straight ahead no nonsense video - it is so refreshing not to be yelled at. I have Session Acoustic 1 and came here because I finally read the manual and realized there is a whole lot of stuff that a hacker like me could benefit from if I just took the time. Now I have another version to deal with!

I have both the versions of Strummed Acoustic, and they are great sounding, but I thought they would make the new one more versatile by letting users simply create their own patterns with the tap in feature, not just searching for something that may or may not be there. I think this would be a very good update to make it more useable if they can do it.

Yeah, without down strum key, up strum key, custom voicings, etc. it's a deal breaker for me. GD-6 from Acoustic Samples has that stuff. I really love the sound. The only problem (and it is a big one for me) is that it can only play plectrum (no fingerstyle playing). It's hard to find a virtual guitar that has everything I want.

Great overview, Matt. I found the playback realistic until 8:13, when you could really hear the pitch slide in an artificial way. Is that because you didn't use the D# Open String method ideally, or is it a hard-bound limitation that prevents even this virtual instrument from sounding real? Thanks!
@SamuelDalferth

Hi, I assume it's due to the MIDI programming --> Adding the Open String key or shifting the transition back or forth by a 16th note might do the trick..

yes they have to be downloaded in native access. Native access is a bit confusing in that it actually installs it for you while it somehow make you think that it only downloaded it. I suggest that you download the a free utility from NI called "Komplete Kontrol". KK will show up under your Plug-ins, in your DAW and your "strummed acoustics 2" will be accessible from it. very useful intuitive tool indeed.

@SamuelDalferth
@SamuelDalferth 7 жыл бұрын
If you need Dmaj in a Cmaj song, that means you use a lydian scale with augmented 4th, which consists of the same pitches as Gmaj. That means, if you switch the auto chords key to G major, you should be able to play C and D major. (But personally, I prefer playing the chords manually, because it is more flexible).
@datamasked623

Nacho Jover There's clues that help you figure this out. follow the formula, which is universal. In western music (at least) a chord progression in a major key goes: Maj (I) - Min (II) - Min (III) - Maj (IV) - Maj (V) - Min (VI) - half diminished (VII) This formula is always true. So Am is the relative minor of C Major...F Maj is the major 4th of C. Those two chords are key of C. C Major and D Major occur successively in the key of G. Therefore, this progression alternates between C and G. If you play a scale using a C major scale shape over Am and F it will sound fine. Over Cmaj and Dmaj you would have to sharp the F note and it will work. F will NOT work over a Dmaj chord. It'll sound like shit.

This one doesn't have it either. Amplesound has single notes and strumming in the same library and they have 3 sampled guitars. They also have the option to build your own strum patterns from scratch, as opposed to relying on prearranged patterns like this one. There's also Orange Tree Samples and Ilya Efimov and they both offer single notes and strum pattern building. Another one is 8dio with many acoustic guitars, mandolin, electric guitar, all single notes and strumming. In my opinion Native Instruments Strummed Acoustic 1 and 2 sound best, with the drawback that you cannot make your own patterns and can't use single notes. As always watch reviews on youtube for all of them, listen to demos and only then make a decision :) Another plus for Amplesound is that you can download demos and try before you buy. They are not based on Kontakt sampler so you can actually demo the VSTs beforehand.
