Amazing info - my partner and I are looking to drive around the world - starting with the PanAM HWY (with dog). OBW is in the running with a Wrangler - debating how much I need a 4x4. Notwithstanding - I feel the need for the bumper winch is KEY!!!! Yes totally support this!! And would welcome input on whether we are bonkers for wanting to use an OBW for a globetrotting! Not crazy off-roaders - just want to make it! HA! Thanks for the amazing videos and info!! #grateful

Hey, Barry! Hand down I would pick the OBW over the Jeep (I’ve had both) gas mileage and comfort are far better in the OBW. If you were a more “hardcore” off-roader I would say go Jeep. For 95% of people out there who use their cars more for driving on road, the OBW is far superior. It can tackle some pretty tough terrain also.

I too want hidden front bumper winch solution for my outback wilderness and already have Auxbeam 8 switch module installed on mine. Also located in Socal so if this company need test vehicle for their prototype, I'm open for discussion. BTW, when it comes to ditch/hood light brackets, I found that generic low profile bracket for 2015 toyota tacoma and it fits amazing for the outback wilderness and it was 18 dollars for the pair instead of $75+ for LP adventure/ADF brackets. I got mine from amazon also. Also, why get wilderness trim if you going to change the roof rack rails to prinzu since the stock rail already have heavy duty rating? You could save few thousand off MSRP getting XT/onyx trim and use the same mods as you already have on the car instead of wilderness given the amount of mods you put on the car. Ironman coilover kits would match wilderness stock ride height vs regular outback springs + heavier duty spring rate

Right on! Appreciate the info on the light brackets. The roof rails may carry a heavier load, but you still have to add crossbars to the rails. Then everything sits 6 inches off the top of your roof and you don’t have nearly as many mounting options. In my opinion the prinsu rack is light years better then the roof rails.

I have a 2022 Outback touring and I would love to have the hidden wrench. I have just started outfitting my Subaru for boondocking and camping. I asked the dealer for skid plates after I received my car and they stated they were not going to release those because they do not have extras. They are made in Russia, said they are looking for a company to supply them. I also want to put the lifts on the front and back. Love this video, lots of information I can use. Keep up the good work

I've been driving a 2020 Onyx for the last 3 years, with Primitive Racing skid plates and their King springs lift kit (10" of ground clearance) . Having or hiding a winch isn't a priority for me, but improving the approach angle certainly would be. I need someone to offer a replacement for the whole front bumper assembly, including the left and right lower nose pieces that connect to the plastic wheel wells. I've looked at the bumper and noses on the Wilderness, and although it has a slightly better approach angle than my Onyx, it is NOT enough to make a big difference in actual off-road capability. So, my point is: while you're convincing someone to make you a winch bumper, why not also talk them into replacing the nose assemblies. :-) That is something on which I would spend money.

Mathew, the compressor is ran through a switch. You only need to turn the compressor on when you’re airing up your tires. Your compressor isn’t used while you’re airing down. I would recommend these tire deflators for airing down amzn.to/3iLGSrU
