One alternative build that isn't meta would be going with both class engravings and maxing spec. This is a bit more ideal while you're still gearing up and don't have 1500+ spec. Why would you do this? Because with Robust Spirit, you always have downtime where you feel useless. With RS 3 + EO 3, you will have 30% damage while in Hype, and 15% damage while you're in your downtime, but also have infinite energy. I think until you get to high tier Spec, this is the best way to play the Robust Spirit build.

Before very high spec, I recommand doing it, make the "out" of burst" that can last quite a while so much better. Even with 1200 spec, it's still a pretty long downtime

I think you wrong about robust spirit is recommanded to newbies, there is burst phase and slow phase when hype mode cd, when you are on slow phase you have to pay attention to not down your energy to 0, you also need a lot of spec to make the engraving shine so not before t3 While energy overflow "eo" is easier when you don't care of where your energy is, except you have to keep it low, you just have to spam your skills with all 3 hype mode This is overall what I think and I skipped some topic. Also thank you for your video, it will help players to understand this class and I hope to see more soulfist, I enjoyed it

I main Soulfist and I really think that Energy Overflow is much more forgiving for these reasons : High cdr, big big uptime (Hype 2 + 3), shorter animation locks (looking at you Merciless Plummel), higher movespeed and also very important less reliable on your ultimate. Robust Spirit is extremely punishing, you have 20 sec to do the job, Energy Release buff only lasts for 6 and if you mess up you're doomed. Going Energy Overflow allows you not only to get the cleanse from Energy Release much more, it makes you very smooth and nimble, and because your spells come off cooldowns so fast you can sometimes get another chance that you will enver get with Robust Spirit. However, if you hit your ult on Robust Spirit you get a big part of the job done in one go. I started by playing Robust Spirit (and that's what I'm going for even now, at 1345 ilvl), and the learning curve is really really hard, you feel like a sitting duck when you get interrupted during your combo, every buff runs out and you're like "oh well, I'm just gonna wait until my Hype comes back and try again". If I had to do it again I would go instantly in Energy Overflow without any hesitation as a beginner. edit (I forgot to mention) : Robust Spirit can run out of energy when not in hype and you're left with only auto attacks ! Be careful ! Maybe this perspective changes in 1400+ content though, haven't experienced it so I can't tell

the breaking point is when your spec stat gets past 1600, the recovery state suddenly doesn't seem so long anymore, and robust spirit becomes the much more forgiving engraving. Also energy overflow's real difficulty really arrives once you get to legion raids. Where there are going to be entire periods of time where you can't be dps-ing at all, and short periods of time where you have to pour your soul into attacking. Supports are obviously going to be putting all their buffs into that short time frame, but if you managed your hype a little wrong, oops your dps is going to be in the gutter.

yeah I guess depends on the encounter/raids you’re facing against. Robust Spirit has one of highest dps when the given time is short - it’s a you had one job engraving. but could feel bad due to low spec/swiftness.

i made my soulfit as my first alt and it ended up as me fifth alt and the least i like to play. nothing wrong with the class in itself, but they sell soulfist to be a martial art master that focuses in soul energy almost like a super sayan or a chinese cultivation light novel, and all the skills that are basically like that sucks in the optimal endgame rotation, making the class feel souless and clunky. i'm having a rly good time with scrapper, artilerist and sharpshooter as alts tho, they are what they were sold to be in any content of the game

Helpful video, i prefer energy overflow as robust spirit has way too much down time with recovery mode and having to manage your energy its boring after you burst. Energy overflow i can literally just spam 24/7 and be fast af i love it. Robusts big numbers look nicer tho

In this video, you recommend Robust Spirit for newbies. I'm kinda confused. Was the energy overflow lvl3 a way of saying max your class engraving?

Just try both and feel it yourself. I started off with Robust, but I hate the down time so much. Now, I'm all in with Energy Overflow. No more useless down time. It's all subjective. You either like one of the class engraving, or soulfist might not be the class for you. And that's ok. Other class can be as fun, and the game encourage you to make alts anyway. Have fun.

Big fan of the videos and the streams ATK. Keep them coming! I have a question though. How does Robust soul fist get KBW viable at 1370? Precise dagger and 450 crit only gives you about 37% crit. Argos set would give 15%. Would they need to run Adrenaline 3 as well?

Hey Jimmy, i’m no ATK but played in jp server and main soulfist now. Argos set 5 gives you 25%, and i run precise dagger myself. Grudge3 KBW3, RS3 PD3 This gives me around 70% average when argos set is up as i have lost wind cliff as well.

I actually hate how the way buffs work, I feel like dmg should be calculated when you cast, not when the skill lands, makes no sense, if you have dmg buffs and you release a giant ball of energy, the buff is active, therefore the energy ball has more energy in it, it doesnt suddenly lose energy just because buffs wear off, but mechanic wise thats how it works. I also hate how when your out and about just doing open world stuff, Robust build feels garage, and overflow feels way better, but I prefer robust build, so now I gotta make 2 builds, one for bossing, one for open world, and its annoying. That being said, my soulfist is t3, and I still like how it plays so I aint changing but I really hope that with the balance changes coming to KR this year, soulfist will have some QoL buffs and maybe better visual effects (like skills having yellow, orange, pink energy added to the actual skill itself based on ur hype level, its weird how everything looks the same in every form and to have the buff be numbers only.)

Yes and no. The +6% party buff will stack with our other self buffs but if you try to say stack the ready attack buff from pulverizing palm with the ready attack buff from energy release they won't stack.

I could be wrong but I think it's because more classes use spec/swiftness in their builds than crit. Some class engravings give tons of crit chance

It could be more expensive because those stats can’t be altered (especially spec in robust spirit builds) for example you can put spec lower for higher crit/swift with other classes but can’t do the same with her

Do the atk buffs stack? I read somewhere that they don't stack even though they do appear on the buff bar. I haven't paid much attention to the damage differences with stacking the atk buffs and not stacking them.

No, they don't stack and only the highest buff of the same type (atk power, crit, atk speed, etc.) from ur own character will apply.

definitely isnt weak but certainly isnt like a top tier dps in the game. Id rate it average and amazing for meeting stagger checks. I generally always get stagger or 2nd highest damage though rarely ever first.

None of those are close to glass cannon and they’re all kind of in meta. Scrappers been popping off in kr server recently. Striker and Soulfist are doing fine but they’re in between meta and off meta. Definitely all viable and good enough to pop on

The harder the fight is, the less opportunity for you to stay in one place to cast a long skill. So people replace it with other skills that are always viable when it go off cooldown. Energy Blast is indeed had very high stagger dmg, if there's a slow fight with high stagger check, I think it could be viable replacing Tempest Blast/Force Orb/Shadow Breaker.

Technically Energy Overflow builds don’t have to use spirit bomb. Sometimes it could hurt the dps rotation due to long casting time

Soulfist sucks. I made it my main and put it 1340. You relly 100% on your spirit bomb to do damage and it's so easy to miss. It's stressful and even when you hit, you get outdamaged by other classes like Berserker, deathblade, etc, and they don't have a stressful playstyle like this. Not worth by any means

@@AYRbROthor I have heard 2022 should be the year of rebalance and I love how Soulfist plays but I would like more focus on her normal abilities than only the awakening skill so let's hope they change her for three better. She seems to be at the bottom of the popularity list they showed and if they truly look at statistics than they'll do something about her lack of damage. :)

@@ininderGG it’s a high skill ceiling and skill floor, I’ve been like focusing hard on macro and learning bosses, and timings cds it helps a lot, the problem is it’s so much WORK! It gets better make sure to spec in specialization. We need the hype cd

1385 soulfist here. What do you think about using robust spirit lvl 3 with energy overflow lvl 1? there's no downsides to the robust spirit play and u get infinite energy during downtimes just for a lvl 1 engraving i find incredibly useful for soulfist. I find this better until we can really get higher specialization (near 1800) as the downtime will then be so short it won't be as useful.

When I check the Korean armory website I see almost all of the energy overflow users having the class engraving at only level 1. Is this an endgame choice when more level 3 engravings are available?

So the lvl 3 engraving gives 15% damage boost, while lvl 1 gives 5% boost. This difference is basically not big enough warrant the playstyle of energy dumping. What they are doing is taking engravings that give comparable damage boost, ignoring the whole below 30% energy damage boost gimmic and using the engraving to allow them to spam skills without getiting energy capped (and the 5% damage boos when it kicks in is nice). Basically just simplifies the playstile a bit and removes a large part of the setup.

atk buffs don't stack, so energy release is pretty useless in nearly all of her builds. even more so in a swiftness build that gets palm cd low enough to keep it up nearly 100% of the time. nearly all builds will take palm and get the atk boost, so the actual increase energy release provides isn't 40%, it's only 40 - 25 = 15 over what palm already provides (12% increase in overall damage at the cost a entire level 10 skill). that's not very much when you consider you could get another high damage skill instead. the cleanse can be nice but you would be using it for dps so you are unlikely to be saving it when it's actually needed. however you might as well just stop at level 7 then and put the points into another damage skill. only real use of energy release is to buff world decimation because the other two don't last long enough. energy release isn't worth the skill points it takes to get it to 10. yes this includes it's only REAL use case, buffing world decimation...as you could just get another equal dps skill to world decimation (of which she has a ton to pick from) and do 100% of world decimation damage, instead of only 40%. decimation ray can use any of her buffs (flash step being one that you need swiftness to get all hits within the damage window) but palm is better because it lasts the full duration without any swiftness. yes world decimation does do ~25-30% more damage over decimation ray but you sit there for so long casting world decimation and attack/cast speed does nothing to speed it up. on the other hand attack speed does speed up decimation ray. in the end you get the same damage out of the skill thanks to palm but you can do it MUCH faster and if the enemy jumps back, you will still be likely to hit them or at least get half of it off before they decide to fuck you over and move. swiftness is a pretty good stat tho, at least on her as it stacks additively with her hype CDR. however gems don't stack additively (far as my testing goes anyway). this means it's VERY hard to get energy releases CD low enough to keep it up constantly. thus again is why palm is good enough as you don't even need a CDR gem but if you do it makes it less stressful. not saying you can't build/play that way, it's just not the most optimal.

Recommending Grudge? Really? No, unless you know the mechanics of the fight inside and out, Grudge should never factor in your build for a new-intermediate player. Tired of seeing it and even more more tired to people dying with it.

I am sorry but the recommendation for Robust and Energy is false. Robust is harder to manage and not good in early game since it relies hard on spec, you wont have your identitiy as often and feel awful to play. Energy Overflow is easier in early game because your ki cant run out and its easier for you to dps in a boss fight since you dont need to know the mechanics as much to see your window to activate 3 to deal dmg. The only ''hard thing to do is spam your skills to be below 30%'', thats why you're not allowed to go into KI stage 3, since its not possible to be below 30% Energy in that stage. Also, Robust is more peak damage, Energy Overflow is more conistent damage if you're a newer player, but a good Soulfist easily outdamages with Robust Spirit.(Speaking in beginning of T3) Also, your stagger is not that good. In your Guardian Raid build are gonna be 2x low stagger and 1x mid stagger, you'd have to change your build if you need more stagger, which is fine, but which leads you to lose tons of dps

i totally agree on the stagger part... many of her useful skills just dun offer stagger or weak attack ... / i always feel so nervous when there are plenty of stagger check... may i know which skills would you take out and get a replacement?

I genuinely don't understand why anyone would recommend Cursed Doll and/or Grudge in the first 3 engravings ... Like bruh, do you seriously have no other engraving to use aside from these two ? Precise Dagger ? Adrenaline ? Awakening ? Master of Ambush (Ambush Master) ? I see too many morons following guides like these to the letter while having no understanding of the game, its mechanics or combat, be it general or for bosses, and they are nearly all of them focusing so much on Grudge & Cursed Doll that it hurts my soul ...

Honestly if I saw a DPS run Heavy Armor I would take them over DPS's running Cursed and/or Grudge. The amount of death and failed runs is not worth taking some who is squishy - especially a random. A dead DPS has no DPS.
