Not one inch East... NATO Andrey Kozrev, russian foreign minister between 1992 and 1996, has confirmed that russia had searched the archives to find any such agreement, and that there was no such thing. He also confirmed that Gorbachev said there was no such assurance given prior to Kozrevs time. Kozrev stated "It's total nonsense." Interview given to the Kyiv Post.

As an American with Polish heritage I want you to know that, at least in my family, generations of separation has not reduced our love and appreciation for the Poles. My grandmothers 2nd cousin was Bishop Michael Kozal, a special human being who sacrificed himself to brutal Nazi torment. Family stories tell how the Nazis would randomly pick imprisoned Poles or Jews and beat them, and Bishop Kozal would ask that their daily beating be given to him. After several transfers across Nazi prisons he ended up in Dachau where he lost his life fighting for humanity. So God bless the Polish and never forget America is supporting Democracy forever.

The entire process started with Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary BLACKMAILING President Clinton during his 1996 re-election campaign. Vlaclav Havel, Lech Walessa and Gyula Horn basically told Clinton that if he didn't back their accession to NATO, they would openly speak at Republican rallies to promote their cause. Given their popularity at the time, this would have torpedoed Clinton's re-election hopes. This opened the floodgates for the other former Eastern bloc countries to join once they met NATO requirements.

@@akend4426 It's a shame because The Russian Federation is so diverse it could be a fantastic country right across..and it's got almost every tourist type destination in it one could imagine. Instead they have neglected so many of the peoples there, so many places , even the outskirts of cities like Moscow... are so run down you'd think it was a bankrupt third world nation... The leadership mentality is a tragedy for Russians and all their neighbouring countries. Mind you I have to add that we in the west are becoming nut cases allowing a nonsense cult tiny minority that believes a person can change their biological sex and that one can self gender as a anything one can imagine beyond the only two real genders that exist.. to be adopted as mainstream and anyone who doesn't go along with such absurdities and verbally questions it to lose their jobs or be jailed... So let's not pat ourselves on the back demanding that ordinary Russians stand up to a regime that will jail them or worse, when must people vin the west are terrified to be caught using the wrong pronouns and don't dare say that it's not possible to change ones biological sex .. So where's the western countries uprising against that Insanity? And we blame the Russian people for not standing up to the Putin regime where the sentences for doing so are even harsher than for using the wrong pronouns in the West? Yes, but it's still easier for the majority to stay silent isn't it and go along with anything than face the consequences of doing so? Only a few brave souls in the west speak out for facts... and pay for it dearly... Yet we blame ordinary Russians for doing the same... for staying silent.. Food for thought..

It has been weird listening to American opinions on the war in Ukraine and everything surrounding it. An American recently asked me "do you think this was our fault?". And I was just baffled by the question. America has very little to do with the whole thing! Mostly it's just Russia being Russia. My country (Finland) has mandatory military service for one reason, Russia. Our cities filled with bunkers and service tunnels. Russia. It has nothing to do with America, or anyone else! It has everything to do with a neighbor that is always saying that the greatest time was when everybody was afraid of them. Constantly making demands, threats and border violations. I'm sorry America, and I think you guys are great, but not everything has to do with you.

Jake, great video. I’m a Ukrainian born in the UK. My cousin is documenting Russia’s war crimes. I don’t know when I will see my cousin and if ever. However, I along with my Ukrainian church parish in the UK have sent 40 plus 4x4 vehicles to the troops on the front lines. We’ve sent 160 tonnes plus of humanitarian aid. We have helped orphanages, troops on the front lines with valuable medical equipment and hospital buses to get the wounded civilians out of Mariupol in the early days of the war. I wanted to go to Ukraine and help to fight. But I’m not fit enough to fight. I now work with children and families here in the UK who have experienced the atrocities, seen their families murdered, parents and grandparents. I’m trying to help these children and mothers mostly to try and live a ‘normal’ life in relative safety here in the UK. The work you do to report on the war in Ukraine keeps me from breaking down mentally. I don’t know what I will be like when this war is over and I have time to reflect on everything I have heard from these children and parents. But when it comes to that day, the victory of that will be a distraction from falling into a world of mental darkness where I believe I would never return from. Keep up the great work. I hope one day our paths with cross and I can personally thank you for your support to my nation and the people from Ukraine. Glory to you and Glory to Ukraine. Слава Україні!! 🇺🇦

And since at least 2014 both state and private media would always interview the same 2-3 "Russia experts" from a russian propaganda think tank that was openly funded by the Kremlin who always repeated this nonsense like a mantra. This only stopped in 2022 but people were already brainwashed and a lot of them believe that *now* the media has been taken over by US propaganda since they can only see their favorite experts on youtube now so "they're being censored".

We have a ton of knuckleheads here in America- or down right stupid sucking in those ridiculous talking points of the Russians. I don’t understand why people can’t understand the hypocrisy and cruelty of Russians by supporting their point of view without minimal amount of research - a little research is not hard to do. I 200% support Ukraine- they do not deserve what has happened to them and their country - but God is on the side of the righteous- in this context the Ukrainians are right and victims in this matter.

I conducted thorough research on everything you mentioned, and it turned out to be accurate. I examined Scott Horton’s book, and much of what he describes seems to rely on hearsay rather than verified facts. The content appears to be based on incomplete information and selective reporting from various newspapers. Thank you, Jake, for shedding light on the truth. My ex-wife lived in East Germany when Soviet troops were stationed there during and after the war. Even though peace had been declared, the soldiers continued to act as if they were still in a state of war. This led to incidents where civilians suffered from violence, theft, and other abuses, with little to no consequences for the perpetrators. I also found Jake's appearance on Piers Morgan to be incredibly professional and respectful. In contrast, Mr. Horton resorted to insults, which made it clear who truly demonstrated seriousness and professionalism. My deepest respect goes to Jake for his composure and integrity.

Finland and Sweden have been neutral fir decades but as soon as Russia invaded Ukraine it became evident that they weren't going to stop. This. If ruzzia had been truly interested in having less NATO on its borders, all they'd have had to do was keep the status quo. Neither NATO nor the EU would have touched Ukraine with a 10ft pole given Crimea had already been annexed and given the conflict in Donbas. But because ruzzia thought they could pillage and murder all across the country without consequences, NATO now has +2 members. And Ukraine actually became an EU candidate in record time.

What an absolute BANGER Jake! I had the honor and privilege of training Estonian lads in the mid to late 90s as part of the Nordic-Baltic 8 Security Initiative (aka The NB8, aka Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). These brave, motivated, inventive and all-round stand up guys told me what life was like under the Russians. They told me how humiliating and infuriating it was to be in a military where you couldn't go above the rank of NCO unless you were an ethnic Russian. They told me about the inhumane punishments they would get if a Russian officer heard them speak their own language. This is where I contracted my, quite severe, case of Russophobia. Except I'm not afraid. And my disdain is not irrational. It's based on inarguable historical fact and first hand witnesses! If you are new to former east block politics you only need to learn two things: 1) The only willing "member" of the Soviet "Union" was Russia. Every other country had their political elite murdered after which rigged elections showed "that the people wanted communism". 2) There is no NATO expansion. There is only NATO acceptance. It only takes one member to block a new applicant. And, trust me, we have put strong requirements, on every applicant, to get rid of the "Soviet hangover" of corruption, nepotism, theft, graft and ineptitude. And all of them went "Heck, fam, we are doing that, as fast as we can, anyway". The Baltics were the first to reach levels of government transparency, human rights and economic stability that were considered acceptable for EU and NATO membership (And I'm proud that my country was there to lend them a shoulder to lean on in the process).

I carry the Western mentality but I also feel patriotic towards Russia and it's people. For the last few months I increasingly moved to a pro Russian standpoint and I was against Western aggression but this video opened my eyes again. It really helps to take a deep look into the past. Some political points are being parroted again and again and you just believe them and take them for facts but at the end most people don't know anything and just repeat what they hear. At first, I was reluctant to click on this video as it would challenge my current world view but I'm glad I did.

There are same mistakes though. Poland got after WW1 territory which never belonged to Poland or simply wasn’t historically Polish. The corridor splitting Germany, German cities like Toruń, or Ukrainian cities such as Lviv. Cities like Toruń were part of the Polish Kingdom, true - but the Polish Kingdom is not equal to Poland. It was a personal union and if you check what that means, you realise all this territory was German speaking since pretty much the Germanic tribes were around. About Lviv, Poland occupied it, kept it for 300-400 years and then Ukraine got it back. About the east expansion, NATO never promised anything even remotely like Poland and so on not joining the NATO - the only promise was that the former East German state won’t have NATO presence.

I've lived my whole life in a free country, but stories from my grandparents and great grandma I heard as a small child hit hard. Some of my relatives were hauled off in animal wagons and sent off to Siberia to barren land with no housing or anything. My grandfathers death time and cause is wrong by 3 weeks on his death documents. Corruption ruled down to the last link- even greenery meant for housing units got resold, dug up and reused. When it comes to ww2, the germans didn't pillage, the russians did- everything and anyone was fair game. And my favourite cherry on top historical family tale- celebrating Christmas 24/25dec was illegal and an arrestable offence. CHRISTMAS by russian belief must be January 6th!(There are other countries that celebrate on jan 6th(3kings etc)) Estonia isn't overly religious, never has been. Christmas is in late December, Dec21 and onwards would be the pagan christmas like holiday- aka winter solstice Decorating a tree or any celebrations were illegal!

Few details, that would have been great additions. 1: When ruzzian empire collapsed, all the countries that wanted to become independent, had fierce independence wars against (now soviet) ruzzia. Including Estonia, for example. Our independence war lasted between 1918-1920 and we, the tiny nation of 1 million, had to fight 2 great empires at once - the soviet ruzzia and the German Wehrmacht. 2: When Estonia was able to restore independence, the ruzzia constantly harassed us. The blockade on Lithuania was just one of many events. Throughout the 90s, ruzzia attacked Estonian border posts, burned down the warm cabins during winter with all the expensive and valuable radio equipment and other stuff in it. They did it again and again - it was already 90s and Estonia was independent and recognized country. Later on, in mid-90s, they constantly harassed us through European Court of Human Rights, constantly putting in papers as if we are discriminating the left-over ruzzians that rejected the idea of going back to their homeland. 3: We in the Baltics never needed to see that "movie" about Chechnya to want to join NATO. We have centuries of history with our "great neighbor". Fun fact - When NATO was founded, the Estonian government in exile sent a letter to the formed NATO expressing the will to join, but because of the occupation, the inability to actually do it. Estonia wanted to be one of the founding members of NATO from the day 1. It was a constant terror that only in 2000s calmed down, mostly probably because Estonia was able to join EU and NATO both on 2004. And throughout the 90s, while resisting all those attacks and terror, we had to build up our country from soviet rubble at the same time...

@@goldbrick2563 u.s. in the 80s told us not to "rock the boat" and disliked the rapid progress to restore our independence. But later, when we were already independent, USA has been a great friend, it's true. Though, "tons of money" is misleading. Most of our help actually arrived from Sweden, surprisingly. But all in all, once the Baltics were restored and showed for a year or two that they don't immediately collapse, many countries started to send their help and care packages. I got my black panther "teddy bear" from one of such packages. :)

Same, based in Germany (Hohne) as a conscript on the Leopard. We grew up with grandparents and parents who lived through occupied Europe during WW2. . My grandparents hid Jews on their property and helped allied pilots (shot down) to the Hidden Village where they could begin the journey back to the US or UK. I will tell my daughter and everyone else how important it is to understand what it means when all your freedoms are taken away by an occupying army. Too many people in the US don't get that, especially the younger generations. The US has never been occupied in modern times. Excellent videos like this 1 are just so necessary to inform the world why we need to stand up against dictators, don't wait until it is too late, history has taught us so many times that we need to respond in force when a dictator is signaling it will invade another country.
