When Russia keeps bullying its neighbours from time to time, NATO expansion is what happens. Had Russia left Ukraine alone, Sweden and Finland would not have joined NATO. Now the Baltic Sea is a NATO lake and the security of the Baltic States is guaranteed as Sweden and Finland would cause serious headaches to Russia should they try anything stupid in the Suwalki Gap. Moldova never wanted to join NATO, yet it was bullied in 1991 by Russia. Georgia met a similar but more brutal fate in 1992. Russia is 100% responsible for NATO expansion and 100% responsible for the current Ukraine war. Russia made false claims of mass deaths of ethnic Russians in Donbas when in 8 years out of a total death toll of 14,000, roughly 3,000 were civilians which includes both ethnic Russians and Ukrainians and furthermore, half of the civilian deaths towards 2023 were due to landmines and UXO which is a tragic consequence of war. There is no difference between the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the US invasion of Iraq in terms of legality and morality. Both were built on false claims and both were meant to take over the local natural resources.
