i saw this movie... n believe me Nana patekar is at his best....this role is gonna b epic.... i cried for whole 2nd half of the movie.... most of his dialogues r in poetry....its impacts is way more in marathi than in english subtitles..its his one of a lifetime kind of role...n considering his other roles in hindi movie i m now definitely remember him as a true "natsamrat"..... he is one of a kind....

First of all.. Thank u for uploading this review.. Nana Patekar has delivered MINDBLOWING performance in this movie & he will win the National Award for sure.. 2nd thing, The film is the screen adaptation of iconic Marathi play "Natsamrat" which was first staged in 1970..(45 years ago).. So the story is not at all inspired from birdman which was released in 2014.. Both the films are totally different from each other..

Natsamrat is one of the most lauded marathi theater play. Its a brilliant film now. Its a struggle of this man Appasaheb Belvalkar who raved theater and now retiring but is suffering a lot. Its the performance and the narration that holds the key. Nana Patekar has cried his heart out in this movie.

This is a very old play adapted into a movie - as someone said in 70s most likely. Growing up in Mumbai in the 70s, I have seen the play on TV - with Natasamrat played by a veteran actor of Marathi stage - Datta Bhat. I think the first actor to play Natasamrat was Dr Shriam Lagoo.

It is not actually birdman. it based on a play which is almost 4 decade old. it is always said that to play this "natasamrat" character is the ultimate honour, which Nana Patekar gets it. Also VV Shirwadkar the original writer of the play has based his play on the life of Orson Welles. +BollyFools
