Looks so awesome when it’s covered in green plants, I’m trying to grow a green shrimp tank now!

@AdamsAquaria these are ostracods also known as seed shrimp. Easy to distinguish from their swim patterns once you are familiar with them. I breed them for fish food the same way people culture daphnia. They might be outcompeting your shrimp fry because they will voraciously consume all biofilms. There are 1000s of different species of ostracods and I believe some of them are predatory and can kill shrimp fry too

@@k.anthony4392 wow thanks for this info, really helpful! I've been getting some nice footage of them with a magnification lens the last few days and was thinking they didn't look how I expected for what I've seen from daphnia. Now I've googled seed shrimp they look exactly right!

What are the tank dimensions? I like that it is super low tech❤

The tank is 70 litres (18.5 US gallons) with the dimensions H44 x L61 x D31 (cm). The exact make is Juwel primo black 70. It's not the most fancy aquarium but it was a good cost. It came with a light, heater and filter but I've only used the light as I was keeping it low tech. I have a new video coming on friday that shows how to set up your own low tech tank step by step if you are interested in how to do one yourself!

@@AdamsAquaria thks. It is a tall tank. I have quite a few low tech tanks thks. You can see some on my channel if you want to see super low tech. They are basically indoor mini ponds, more like a rock pool than a pond. They are all sunlight, 2 hrs a day. I love spotlights but the electricity bill made me go solar :) Great channel and great idea. I think people love to see a tank progression over time (ie what works). I have a few videos of tanks in week 3 or 4 but no more because they did not work out. Hope your channel grows. Best of luck. I am always interested in how other people set up and grow plants underwater.

How did you get the worms and daphnia in there or did they just appear?

I suspect they were in the soil that started the tank. It wasn't sterile or anything. Either that or in with the water when I brought home the shrimp or snails
