Thanks for the information - my spouse takes Eliquis because she is Afib. I take aspirin because I had a stroke from which I recovered completely. Eliquis is really expensive even though it's been on the market long enough to face a generic competitor. The primary manufacturer bought the generic competitor out so now we are faced with entering the coverage gap indefinitely on. Medicare Part D. I understand your point but am still paying thousands per year because the manufacturer is preventing generic competition.

I learn SO much from these videos. Now I know the difference between anticoagulants (Warfarin) and anti-platelet (Aspirin). I'm a BIG believer in natural medicine and regular vitamin / mineral supplementation but I am willing to learn from someone who is more knowledgeable than I. Dr. Gupta presents both sides of the discussion and reaches a most logical conclusion BASED ON REAL SCIENCE. Furthermore, Dr. Gupta reveals the need for there to be funding for the health benefits of natural substances (i.e. a tax on pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, which goes 100% to labs and research companies doing these studies).

Although I love your videos and your point of view, thiw one made me very skeptical because the fact that only pharmaceuticals have the funds to support studies on anticoagulation must be used as a justification for using only their products for this reason. There should be courageous doctors who would support financially such studies as regards natural anticoagulants which have no side effects when the commonly suggested by doctors have plenty that make the quality of life worse for those using them. Those who have no side effects are because they have ruined their bodies with bad lifestyle, bad diet etc in such a degree that they are not in touch with their bodies any longer and they don't feel how the medication is making them ill and working inside them harming their organs etc. You should say something also about the studies that refer to thousand dying from anticoagulation side effects.!

I have been on warfarin for 3 years. I can not handle the constant INR's anymore. It's every second week or every month. In SA it takes 4 - 6 hour just to do the INR, get the prescription and the medication. I refuse to do it any longer. It's taken over my life. During 2023 my INR count was within the desired range only twice (between 2 -3). It's 1.3, 1.4, 1.6, back to 1.4 and on and on it goes. So in my opinion there is no benefit or hope of preventing a stroke if you are not even close to the desired range. While waiting at the clinic for so many hours I have picked up so many viruses and had to spend so much extra money on medication and time to recover it's just driven me to the point where I say "no more". I don't have the co morbidities. I will take my chances. If I die, then I die. If I will have a stroke I hope it's severe enough to kill me. The inconvenience of being on warfarin is unbearable and to switch to the other medications are unaffordable.

My issue is that DOAC medication has led to severe PR bleeds requiring hospital admission on three occasions across 18 months. Two requiring blood transfusion and several days in hospital. This is because I have pan diverticulitis. I was recommended Revroxaban and then Apixaban. On the occasions of hospital admission I recorded very low blood pressure in the ambulance owing to the bleed which instigated an AFib event recorded on the ECG monitor. I’d been OK prior to the bleed. I don’t have high blood pressure or any other comorbidity Ie. Diabetes or weight problems. My incidence of paroxysmal AFib has reduced to virtually zero through lifestyle changes, diet etc. I’m now 70. I wonder if the statistical analysis of the vulnerable populations takes in smokers, the overweight and obese and diabetic samples with express co- morbidity. If the bleed triggers an AFib event then I’m playing one symptom against another… I’d value your prognosis.

@@robtempe honestly it is a crapshoot trying to find competent DRs in the USA...... I have been injured and nearly died several times due to DR incompetence.....truly the US healthcare system is a joke and terribly corrupt.

I just left Hospital today after my most recent episode of afib. Whilst there, the nurses, of course, drew bloods to "check your electrolytes". I asked after the fact, how did my Magnesium look? I was told, "Oh, we don't test Magnesium. We look at your Potassium and if that's OK, we ASSUME your Magnesium is OK as well". Has the word not reached the shores of the New World then about the importance of Magnesium to heart health?
@elisafrye21155 жыл бұрын
Peter Wishneusky, I agree with you-THIS IS SO INFURIATING, especially with all the recent studies showing that a huge number of Americans are magnesium deficient and their health is in jeopardy because of it!

@@elisafrye2115 . You are right about Magnesium it works in many cells in our bodies look it up if you haven't also potassium check it out we need a balance of both minerals.

If you have afib but rarely, is it OK to take 15mg Xarelto AND Smarter Nutrition Curcumin to help arthritis symptoms without getting a bleed?

I am 60 years old and use nattokanise and turmeric. I used aspirin at one point- then had to put in a pacemaker for brady. I was running and exercising daily. Total betrayal-right?! So whatever i was using - I discarded for alternatives. Still mad!!!

I have started taking Xarelto 20mg daily due to DVT and hate it. It has caused so many side effects on me like heavy menstrual bleeding, stomach pain, gastritis and dark urine! I cannot take it anymore. How can you help me?
@gloriamaryhaywood22173 жыл бұрын
Dark urine shows it's affecting your liver! Be Sure to tell your doctor about it right away! I also take xarelto, but haven't experienced any negative side effects that I am aware of. I take it because of having AFib. If you have DVT it's important that you do something to safe-guard yourself from stroke. Perhaps your doctor can switch you to a different blood-thinner that doesn't react so negatively with your body chemistry?

Hi Dr.Gupta. Well Im really impressed the way you explain about each problem in details , which unfortunately, most Physicians/M.S / or any other Doctor's usually donot do so ...reasons being that one is 'still' anxious to know about the Answers to our queries left unsolved !Thanks so hmuch in givingtimw & info about All the Topics You Discuss ,Well done ,May God Bless You for your 'Noble Cause! ' Could you Also come up with a discussion in Aspirin/or other blood thinning medicines..Can Females take it after menopause /Hysterectomy,If so..Then what to do if Aspirins /co crelated ingredients donot suit as it causes GERD,or if it causes bleeding in stomach ,nose etc...So What could one do /take to get another effective & a safer way for blood thinning! I am 70, well-managed diabetes 2 with mild sleep apnea, no alcohol, cigarettes, obesity, but I have high blood pressure, which I have recently been controlling extremely well with calcium channel blockers. A few years ago I was diagnosed with non-symptomatic AFIB, I don't feel any problems but the ECG says I have AFIB. Two months ago, I was recommended xeralto 20mg. Due to the known side effects, I decided to be my own doctor at my own risk, I take half a tablet of 20mg Xalerto (10mg), plus raw garlic , D3, Q10, Omega 3, Cinnamon with yogurt, Vitamin C, and B complex 100. I feel great without any side effects, Time will tell if I'm wrong.

Hello Dr. Sanjay, the key words I hear are; "you have a symptom and I give you a medication and the symptom goes away", then the medication worked. However, this is where we have been with medicine for a long long time. Why is it, the root cause of afib cannot be diagnosed and actually fixed to not return, therefore a lifetime medication would not be needed to prevent a stroke that is a higher risk of happening when in afib? It is my understanding that 15% of all strokes are due to afib. How do the numbers then correlate to a 60% prevention of stroke?
@kalkeikuu2 жыл бұрын
I’d rather not take aspirin because I already have chronic gastritis, but my MD told me to take it daily to prevent another stroke. I feel backed into the corner.

I guess this is too old a video to ask a question on? But I'll try. Dr Gupta, when you say using blood thinners reduces strokes by 60% Is that 60% of everyone in the study. Or is it 60% reduction the total % risk? Maybe I am not explaining myself too well? I think pharma companies will usually quote 60% because that sounds huge compared to a 60% reduction in an already small %. Does that make sense? I wish both these statistics had to be quoted on all papers. Sadly you are effectively saying that no natural remidies can ever be recommended because pharmaceuticals will never do the studies needed. But thank you for your excelllent videos.

Jake Thompson, good question. I have lung clots and was put on Xarelto in the hospital. I researched this drug when I got home. Did you know there are several class action lawsuits on this medication? Also I have kidney and liver problems and on the drug sheet it states that this drug is not for everyone especially with the issues I have. I just don’t trust the medical elites.
