I have a question. My 17-year-old dachshund has a growth underneath his anus. The vet gave me some medicine to try and it helped for a little bit but like with all pharmaceuticals it just treated the symptoms not the problem. My next step is to go buy some CBD oil to put on this spot it's not a spot it's a growth and it cracks and bleeds so I have to wash him twice a day to get the scabs off. Some days it'll be fine and I don't have to give him a bath maybe he's dragging his butt across the floor because it itches and then he breaks open the sore but I have tried to put poultices on it I've tried pretty much everything but the CBD oil that's my last attempt at healing him it's supposed to be coming in the mail in a few days I just wanted to know what you thought about it. Like I said he's 17 he has lipomas which is of course normal for a dog his age. But he could live 25 so I'm not giving up on him I've had him since he was 3 weeks old. I'm just wondering if there's any other types of poltices or anything like that I could use to treat him. He's too old to go through anesthesia when I took him to the vet he just wanted to cut it off I had to beg him for alternative medicines. I'd appreciate your thought on this. It's not a glandular issue it's just a growth that popped up right below his anus it started out as a little bitty spot about 3 years ago and all of a sudden this year it's about as big as the end of your thumb. Since he loses blood when it gets cracked open I've been feeding him steak and eggs trying to build up his blood protein. I cooked their own food I always have rice is the main ingredient sweet potatoes peas and carrots with some either ground beef or chicken. I've come to the point to where either I try to CBD oil or I take him to the vet and get it cut off because he can't keep bleeding like this and of course it hurts him but he goes to sleep and his tail lays on it when he wakes up his tail rips off all the scabs and I give him a bath every morning before I go to work and then almost before we go to bed usually around 6:00 just trying to keep him clean I do have wound care that I put on it try to keep everything as clean as we can. My children help when I'm at work I bought some fancy cleaner but the only time it ever got any better was when the vet had him on some really strong antibiotics but I know that tears up their guts and I don't want to do that again. I know I'm rambling but he's my baby of 17 years and I just want to do what's right so if you have any poltices to recommend or if I should just go get the CBD oil..? Sorry for the long message but there's not many holistic practices that I can find for dogs like I told you he's a 17-year-old dachshund in absolute healthy condition he just has this bump underneath his bum bum.
