I honestly think the hair typing system is the most divisive and unhelpful part of the natural hair community. What is important is to learn whether you have a certain density or what type of hair strands you have. These things can help you determine which protective styles work best as well as which products, styling techniques and tools will be the most efficient. This was a good list of tips.

I agree. It’s just another way to create another hair texture hierarchy. Just like nappy or good hair.

This!!!! Wash weekly! Soak your hair with water when washing, and detangle your hair when wet with a conditioner. Use your styler based on the desired outcome.. set your style for the week (make sure your hair is dry). Less is definitely more!! ❤ Your hair is beautiful ! I love to see more black women understand that our hair isn't difficult!!!

I had to stay off KZbin university because I was overloading my hair with oils and butters and my hair and scalp hated it. Jamaican Castor Oil sent me to the dermatologist due to an inflamed scalp. I love all your tips.

Another thing I would add to the last one. Be patient when doing your hair. Especially detangling. If you in a rush or really can’t detangle gently take a moment and come back when u can. I have ripped my hair out by rough handling my hair wet so just take time.

Love this. I recently did a semi big chop and was feeling anxiety over it. I know that my hair grows but I definitely was doing some of these no-nos mentioned in the video. I absolutely love the shape and length of your hair. Beautiful. The one thing I definitely need to master during this process is patience. Thank you for all of these needed tips and reminders😊! That air drying tip is top tier idk why us black women got so silly once we returned to natural there is nothing wrong with heat if used correctly. Of course this is just my opinion. I blow out my hair every time I wash it wash n go's are an absolute no for me and tightly coiled hair.

This is ALL FACTS!! I went natural a few months after you and found your page a few months into my journey. This validates Soo much of what I have learned about our hair. I’m loc’d now and that world been lying to us about our hair too. So it’s good to see the learning happening. I’m going to follow that 2 types of shampoo tip though because it’s something I’ve been hearing but was uncertain if I actually needed.

Will confusion confuse us every time? Do people either consider n-word as positive or negative? Are words empowered with either negative or positive power? What is the purpose of words such as coarse, nappy, kinky, knotty and n-word? What is the purpose of words such as patterned, spiral, curly, coiled, springy, African and African American? Is hair length/texture, skin tone, facial features and every thing else pertaining to you determined by your DNA? You must be your best you, according to your DNA!

i feel you lee. been thru the multiple times i cut and shaved my hair off ..."do you have cancer" or "you look like a boy" never mind multiple people gathering around me asking me if was sure I wanted to cut my hair. a lot of people have said that when you do a life style change, like cutting our hair..we must be going thru something ....my mom was my example for hair, she always cut her hair and wore it natural, she absolutely hated perms and wigs, and i am just like her in that sense.

😢 (relaxer free since 2011) Mine grows fast, but retaining length (beyond shoulders) has been hard. Hormones have made a section of mine brittle, and it popped off. I'm about to do a big chop. It's sad we have people close to us judging us and jumping to conclusions based on our hair. Your hair is definitely flourishing ❤

This is amazing, I’m glad another person is saying this. I started my Hair growth journey in 2015, I was so strict with it, following all the does and don’ts , fast forward to 2023 I was fed up, after experiencing so much set backs I pressed the reset button, cut all my hair and now doing all the things you are saying here, it’s insane how you are saying everything word for word, it shows you have truly been in the game for long just like you stated. Thank you for this video ❤.

Your hair is sooo beautiful 😍 I’m always excited to see which hair style you are going to do next… i never have a problem cutting and regrowing my hair… some people say genetics plays a part which is true… but just leaving your hair alone stop putting so many products stop making negative comments about your hair… make sure to trim your ends and let it grow.. also eating healthy grows your hair as well

My hair was long and thick in childhood, 20 and 30s until I started taking medicine for h.b and diabetes so I cut it off and wear custon made wigs outside and rock a brush cut in the summer I never glue it on 😊 Your hair is gorgeous, enjoy it Relaxers are really bad although I wore a short pixie before I grew locs then chopped them off and wore braids that didn't help just broke it off more during covid days from keeping them in too long. I love my natural brush cut.

“A dime size is all you need”. I wish people would listen to this one. Content creators for natural hair be like, I can get two uses out of this product, yippee. This drives me crazy, and I turn away from their videos. Same when I see them pile on huge globs of product, so ridiculous, IMO. I can get at the least 8-10 uses out of most products. Example, with the Cecred moisturizing conditioner, I take out what I can get onto one finger for my entire head. From this one, I will likely get 20 uses. My hair is breast length; however, the density is only medium not thick.

I truly enjoyed this video and everything stated seams doable, sound and practical! I have two questions, I had to “big chop” and my hair texture appears to be like yours so in light of the fact that my hair is now 2” in length, and in some areas shorter, how would you suggest employing the advice of not letting my hair air dryer, what would be the styling regimen you’d suggest? The stylist brushed it with a flat shampoo scalp brush to create a curl effect and put a soft serum and leave in conditioner w/a light oil. Please advise as I’d like to grow my hair out. The other question is how to find a hood stylist in an area I don’t know anyone…I’m in the DMV and I’m not on Instagram. Thanks so much!
