Its so nice to see an older black woman without a WIG. Its so nice to see a bw with her own natural healthy longer hair. When I go out in public you can count the number of ikder black women with their own hair, without wigs. It's like wowwwww , when i actually see one.

A lot of older black women suffer from health challenges that end up impacting their health and hair. Unfortunately, our community did not always embrace natural hair and most of us had relaxers by the time we were 13 but were never taught how to care for our hair. I had COVID last year and developed telogen effluvium, which resulted in significant hair loss. This is when I embarked on my natural hair journey and actually learned about my hair texture and how to properly care for it...I'm 57. So, maybe those ladies you are seeing wearing wigs just have not been taught how incredible our hair truly is. I hate that I had to have a health crisis to learn about my hair, but I'm glad I'm loving my hair today.

Hello! Thank you for generous sharing information on the proper care of virgin and natural hair. Many people don’t realize nutrition is absolutely important for total hair health and wellbeing. The hair wears and styles much better when the strands are nourished from the inside out. Conditioning the hair externally is absolutely essential for maintaining healthy hair as well. Keep up the great and excellent service , Ms. Karen. And once again, thank you for all the good work that you do.

Oh my god I just subscribed. You have given me hope. It’s The short hair comment. I’ve cut mine a lot just like yours and have grown it out and worn my hair all kinds of ways but this last time it’s just growing out weird. After I had my last son, who is 5 years old now, my hair growth has not been the same. I’m 46 now and I too have made lifestyle changes. My hair is growing but slower than usual so it seems and it’s slightly uneven. It’s in a short afro now past the twa stage. I have been debating on cutting it back off again because I don’t think I’ll ever see my old length again. It would be like yours by now how I kept getting wash n go’s. I just made a decision to last night to go back to that style. If your hair can grow this long in 3 years mine can too. Hopefully I can stay patient in the process lol.

Goodmorning Mrs. Karen, I have a question that i hope you can answer. My 2 yr old granddaughter's curl pattern is gone due to my daughter putting a rice mask in her hair. Do you think it can/ will be restored? I dont know what to do at this point. Thank you in advance for your desperately needed advice.
@KarenofCurlHouse Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Generally speaking a rice mask was probably too strong for her hair as they are typically intense protein masks. I suggest you followup with deep moisturizing conditioners to balance the protein. Try moisturizing treatments once a week or on wash days. I don’t think it’s permanent. Was heat applied to her hair or just the mask?
@dw170. Жыл бұрын
@@KarenofCurlHouse ooooh thank you so much for replying. She said she only used the cool setting on the blow dryer. Is that still considered heat damage?
@KarenofCurlHouse Жыл бұрын
@@dw170. No its not. The mask was just probably too strong for her hair. You can also do a apple cider vinegar rinse (mix 2 cups of water with 8 tablespoons on acv) and poor it on her hair after you shampoo it. Then followup with a moisturizing treatment. DON'T GET IT IN HER EYES. That will help rid the hair of buildup as well.
