This is nice solid advice. After so many years of trying every technique, bandwagon, product, and herb under the sun for my hair and nothing working and only getting worse I seriously had to stop and think. I told God I know you didn't make it this difficult for the black woman to grow some hair. He sure didn't. The answer for me was to keep it CLEAN and SIMPLE. I tried it and it works! For me washing twice a week with a gentle shampoo keeps my hair and scalp clean. This will vary from person to person but washing every 3 days is my sweet spot.. The flakes that I had for YEARS and tried everything to solve the problem are finally gone! The excessive shedding that I've had all of my life...GONE! All I did was add one extra wash per week. I now only use shampoo, conditioner, and a serum made up of two cosmetic grade silicones to seal in the moisture. That's it! I wear 8 big twists and will pin them up or usually wear a head wrap. Nothing fancy. My hair never has a chance to get dried out and I'm cleaning my scalp before enough debris accumulates to irritate my scalp and cause flaking or hairloss. I have a cabinet full of products I need to trash.

Hi C Thank-you for your comment! I love it so much! I agree with everything you said 100%. Our hair really isn't as difficult as we can make it seem! For me, the wash sweet spot is actually once per week but I often leave it for 2 lol Simplicity and consistency is definitely the key!

I’m reading this comment and I think I’ll start washing twice a week Bcz my hair is dying and I can’t adhere to the washing after every 2 weeks😭 it’s miserable the itching the wounds my scalp wants cleanliness I think
@cfoster68042 жыл бұрын
@@grace101 Yes, please do not extend your wash days just to save a style or because "that's just what we do". If you are itching like that it's well past time for you to wash. Start with once a week and see how you do. The frequency will be different for everyone based on body chemistry, environment, etc. I personally had to start looking at it as more of a hygienic things over cosmetic and trying to keep a style looking good. If i see flakes in my hair now I think this needs to come out now with soap and water rather than trying to cover it with oil.

People will fight you on this, but this is the tip that makes all the difference in the world: wash your freaking hair and wash it often. Hair is only unmanageable when you allow dirt and buildup to accumulate on it. Also, clean scalp = healthy hair.

You and your hair are sooo gorgeous! Lately I’ve definitely gone crazy buying so many hair products it’s really ridiculous at this point 😑😩. I refuse to spend another penny on hair products. After I use up what I’ve already spent my money on I definitely want to simplify my products and routine! These are great tips in video and a much needed reminder!
@ifshesopleases2 жыл бұрын
Hi Fit Babe! Thanks for your comment! I agree, simplification is definitely the way to go!

Much success! I’m right along with you. I have way to many products and have decided to curtail my spending. And what makes it more ridiculous on my part, I haven’t been consistent with my routine. It’s far in between. But I’m working on it now. It’s not nice having dehydrated hair which causes excessive shedding and breakage. 🙏🏾❤️

What I have to remind myself of is, some natural KZbinrs make videos for money and sponsorship mainly. I’ve become suspicious when a KZbinr makes a hair tutorial or updated routine and they have a “whole line of new products”. Or they simply make a wash day routine with a new product. If something works well why the need to change? The best things to do is go back through their videos and see how many different products they use for the same routine. If it’s always different then you know it’s less about sharing knowledge and more about pushing products.
@FitBabe2 жыл бұрын
@@catherinebutler3003 You are not alone! I’m in the same boat with not always being consistent and letting my hair get too dry (ESPECIALLY given the amount of products I have). I’m definitely working on it! We got this! We can do this! Here’s to healthy and long hair in 2022 🥂! Much success to you as well!

You’re so adorable and your hair is lovely! I agree with the philosophy you espouse, keep it simple! It’s so refreshing for a KZbinr to not encourage their viewers to try wacky methods and spend hundreds of dollars on overrated products. Maybe Black women wouldn’t view taking care of their hair as a painful, expensive chore if it wasn’t sold to us that way.

I’m transitioning and ugh I really do not want to big chop, I want to cut it when my hair gets to around shoulder length but currently it’s armpit length (the dead ends) I’m going to cut some of the end and get braids done, hopefully they will grow a bit in the mean time if I keep my scalp oiled and moisturised.

🙋🏽♀️Hi there, I’m just so curious to get your thoughts… it would matter a lot cause I’m a new natural and some worth a perfectionist when it comes to these concerns, it’s my problem… Do you deal with single strand knots? How do you handle them? What’s your trimming routine like? How do you detangle your hair when it’s super matted? Do you strive for curl definition? Please how long have you been natural? 🥺 What do you think about even ends…? Do you strive for even ends and length as well like most naturals? Thanks in advance 🙆🏽♀️. I love your channel and approach to hair care btw💕

Hi Andrea Thanks for your message! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the channel :) Just so you know, I read and try to reply to all of my comments so please feel free to leave me just one next time :) Do you deal with single strand knots? I ignore them, mostly. There are so many, I don't pay them any attention. How do you handle them? What’s your trimming routine like? I trim 1-2x per year How do you detangle your hair when it’s super matted? I don't let it get matted as I keep my hair stretched. I explain this in other videos Do you strive for curl definition? Nope Please how long have you been natural? 🥺 Please see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4esp42go86YhMk&ab_channel=IfSheSoPleases What do you think about even ends…? I have no opinion. I let my hair grow as it wants. Do you strive for even ends and length as well like most naturals? Nope Hope this helps!
