When there’s steam coming out while straightening it just means the heat protectant is doing it’s job….However, if you hear something sizzling and the hair is starting to stick to your straightener, now that’s a different story 🥲

TIPS: Trim after flat iron. Yes, flat iron in small sections. Pass iron over roots twice. Ends only once. Great job! You're hair growth is amazing. Yes honey! The finished product was 🔥 The smoke was the heat protectant doing what it's supposed to do.

Agreed. My daughter has ur exact texture and it’s not heat trained. I have pressed it on 400 and her hair is fine. The smoke is definitely from product especially if it’s oil…..

I agree. Don't You worry about that steam,, you are working at 425 degrees. You gonna see heat regardless. You did a great job clipping your own ends. Sometimes, not all cases, you get a scissor happy professional. Just keep doing little by little. It looks healthy. Great style!

Girl the gold series detangling milk is the TRUTH !! I’ve been using it for so many years and girl my hair loves it like it’s a drug. It takes like 2-3 pumps to detangle a whole half of my bed but we love moisture so I use more depending on what I’m doing to my hair

Yasss come on Jess with the length! I have thick coarse hair and I flatiron at least twice a year the most. As long as you have good heat protecter and don't use excessive heat while it straight you should be fine. The smoke coming from your flatiron is just from the products you use like the heat protecter.

I don't use heat n my hair at all so I was so surprised at how long my hair is. I'm at armpit length! Hello beautiful lady!I wanted to say that I think its best to wash all the moisturizing products out of your hair before straighting the hair why? Because I think that the moisturizer help break the hair during the straighting process. Back in the 70s my sister use to silk press my hair once and a while and I never got heat damage. Because my hair only got water and greased daily. Washed ever two weeks and my hair was passed my shoulders. Jess actually my hair stylist and other hair stylist I've spoken said you will get smoke when flat ironing if you still have product in your hair after washing which just means you really need to wash it good twice. You also could have sprayed to much heat protectant on your hair.. Now if you smell burning hair while your flat ironing pretty much means your burning your hair and to flat iron on a lower setting.

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous, might I suggest you try oraplex 0,3 and 6 treatment on hair . As a follow-up treatment when you decide to revert back. A little pricey, but well worth it.
