@@aisha-3857 I have friends who went through something similar. I think you might be leaving your protective styles in too long. If you haven't tried this already, try leaving them in for maybe four-six months instead of a year to give your hair at least a week (or two) to breathe. Then braid it back up again and you'll hopefully get more effective results when you take your hair down. I hope these tips are both helpful and useful.🤞🏾🤞🏾🥰

Revair is hands down better than the Revlon brush. My 6 yo daughter and I both have waist length 4a/b natural hair. It takes less time, less heat, no ripping, and hardly no tears/whining during the process. Our hair is more stretched. I haven't flat ironed yet bc it rains in my state ALL THE TIME. However, I assume it wouldn't take much heat to get bone straight hair with the straightener afterwards. Fluff nugget is gorgeous, and so are you! Congrats on your progress!!

If you want an alternative you could try doing a rollerset! Mo Knows Hair has some great videos on how to do it properly. It'll take longer because you MUST sit under a hooded dryer and dry your hair to completion. But there's 0 chance of heat damage because you're not applying direct heat, unless you use a flat iron to press your roots.

Hey, have you heard of JenniferRose or iamblackgirlcurls? They have completely changed how I care for my hair and have helped many women with simple hair care, hydration and length retention. Braids (with extensions) can do more harm than good in some cases because the synthetic fiber can cause friction against your natural hair strands and damage the cuticle especially if left in for an extended period. Also, washing once a month is only 12 times per year which is depriving your hair of moisture (water) that’s obtained during the cleansing and conditioning process. It’s best to wash every 7-10 days if you can maybe 14 at least. It may sounds like a lot, but the more frequently and consistently you do it, the better and faster the process becomes. There are hydrating shampoos that can be used to prevent too much moisture loss. Regular shampooing and conditioning also cuts out the need for pre poo and weekly deep conditioning! Additionally, it’s important to get regular trims as the ends are the oldest part of your hair and splits only hinder length retention. The frequency varies based on how you handle your hair and your texture etc. but stylists usually say once every 4 months at least. One other thing, if you haven’t had blood work done recently, check your vitamin levels as things like iron deficiency can cause hair loss/breakage/thinning. Hope this helps ❤

I think everything you did up to straightening your hair was great! I ran into the same issue with my 4c hair when I tried to straighten it and I'm pretty sure it was because I didn't use any anti-humectant/ anti-humidity products with the heat protectant to keep my hair from shrinking back up! Some leave in conditioners or cream based silk serums should work to combat the humidity the next time you straighten your hair!

At some point in your natural hair journey, your hair just decides it no longer deigns to be straight and it stops responding to heat the same way. Especially if you don't straighten your hair regularly. My hair did that a few years so I eventually gave up on flat ironing it. Even when it did go somewhat straight, it would clump together like it was still curly unless I combed it every five minutes. Eventually you just gotta let it go.

Mine is the same. It is absolutely heat defiant.

The plush is probably THE most creative thing I've seen. I might just have to get me one. Your hair is looking absolutely amazing. Your hard work is paying off greatly.

I love how beautiful your hair is. I also know that feeling of getting your hair pressed out only to walk outside and the humidity ruins it. There is humidity and southern humidity and southern humidity will ruin the best presses especially on us 4c hair girls. But, I love how you were rocking your fluffy press out.
