Excellent results and great tips. Vallejo’s metal colors are very good. I also used Ak extreme metal paints and also they work great, as with the F-86 Sabre I built.

Great demonstration, thank you. Also, very timely; I'm working on a Lindberg Hawker MK-1 that will be finished in aluminum. This is just what I needed.

Thanks for sharing. The 10x4 test piece where you had the 4 different primers underneath, how were they arrenged? First 2 columns seem very dark, which columns had the gloss black primer for example?
@arewethereyetmodeling21962 жыл бұрын
Hi Umut, starting from the top: Gloss black, flat back, medium grey, and white. The gloss black provided a very nice shiny result. However, the camera did not pick up the shininess of the paints as well as I would have liked. The flat black and grey, would be good for a used metal finish look. White took down the shininess but it was more bright than flat black and grey.

What pressure and needle did you use to spray the gloss coat? Did you apply a tack coat?
@arewethereyetmodeling2196 Жыл бұрын
Colin, I used a .2m nozzle for the gloss coat at 15 psi. Same for the final coat.

How long did you wait between the paint and gloss coat? I've had terrible luck with Vallejo delaminating under (their own) varnish even after waiting 2-3 days.
@arewethereyetmodeling21962 жыл бұрын
30 mins between paint and the gloss coat. Like you, I was finding that the Vallejo Metal Varnish was de-laminating the Metal Colors. Thus why I switched to the AK intermediate gauzy agent. It works beautifully and is hard as nails without ruining the paints luster.

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 Thanks for this tip. I ordered and tried out a bottle of the shine enhancer and it's pretty much magic compared to the vallejo varnishes. I also ordered the AK matte and semi gloss; hope this solves most of the problems I've been having. I found 18psi from my HP-CS with .35mm was comfortable to start.

I had this issue the first time, the varnish peeled off like a skin. I now apply the varnish straight after the Metal Colour and no longer have this issue.

What is the psi when you are putting down the paint?
@arewethereyetmodeling219615 күн бұрын
12-15psi. Don’t go higher or it cause a gritty dull look

Can vallejo polyurethane gloss varnish be used for the varnishing instead of the metal varnish?
@arewethereyetmodeling21966 ай бұрын
Mike, I did try the polyurethane gloss varnish and in my opinion it looked exactly the same as metal varnish.

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 Thank you! Have been asking this for some time and nobody could answer me!
@arewethereyetmodeling21966 ай бұрын
@@mistermike3666 no problem, glad I could help! Just remember with gloss coats, you have to go nice wet coats, low psi. Do not blast it on.

You should try Mr Premium Top Coat from Mr Hobby. Way better than European brands and it is water-base.

Music is very annoying...

Can you clarify? Do you not like the music or how loud it is? I am still fairly new to making videos. Definitely up for suggestions to improve things.

@@robinbrown190 thx, I’ll lower the music volume for part 2.

@@arewethereyetmodeling2196 Just get some free classical and make it very quiet in the background. It's not really needed as more than a white space filler in videos where someone is talking about what they're doing all the way through. Also, you flash that Gauzy shine enhancer for like a second. Had to rewind and pause a few times to see what you were using. Never heard of it before.

@@JP-qb4zn Check out my new videos. I toned down the music a lot based on feedback i received. Hopefully you find them much better quality.

ha...yeah I agree. This is was my first venture into making videos. The sound sucked, the lighting sucked, and even some of the angles sucked. I have a new video on Vallejo Metal color you should check out on my channel. In it I build the 1/48 Tamiya P-51B.

Great video, but you have to lose the music. It's very annoying and there's simply no need for it.
