As we mention in video details, this video is focused on a *mechanism* of evolution: natural selection. We have a video specifically on evolution itself as this video does not formally define evolution. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHqaeolprZKXfasfeature=shared Natural selection is a scientific theory, but there is a lot of confusion on what a scientific theory really is. You may be interested in our video that explains what a *scientific theory* is kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmSTgp-tiNiIn8U. Also, this video has a resource! www.amoebasisters.com/handouts

Can u talk more about variants in genetics? I’m a de novo case in my family, which means that I’m a variant. I have the genetic disorder that NO ONE else has in my family. And I was completely “chosen” by chance! 🙏🏼
@irislin8313 жыл бұрын
You can check it out in her monohybrid video. Or punnet square, it talks about your issue, because your parents are “carriers “ for this genetic disorder but you just happened to inherit the 25% or 50% homozygous recessive alleles.
@mr.quoctran22182 жыл бұрын
@@irislin831 In this case, they represented their disorder as "de novo" meaning a new trait that has never existed in their family lineage. This case would be one of a genetic mutation. Different organisms have different rates of genetic mutation which is a result of many possible steps of the meiosis process. It could be a result of genetic recombination, an error in DNA checking after DNA damage and incorrect repair, or many other possible factors. Regarding variation in general, humans have a lower rate of variation compared to other organisms such as rabbits. Rabbits can have many offspring in a clutch and each of them can have very different expressed phenotypic traits.

But, are there any environments where those two effects could be switched? Say a lighter frog and a darker frog are hanging out in your yard, but the grass matched the lighter frog more thoroughly. Wouldn't it be easier for predators to see the darker frog, therefore flipping the effects of the color? Oh, and P.S. I
