BillyNou is about the wonderful process of natural dyeing I do for my brand, life, motherhood and the trails and errors of making and crafting.
I’d like to inspire others to become more conscientious, to find a connection with nature and benefit from this immense and totally accessible energy.
I am by no means an expert but I love what I do and try to live what I love. I offer you a window into my personal journey with the hope of being some benefit to you in one way or another.

I love them!!! The ladies that work in the produce section of my small grocery store are nice enough to save me onion skins. I have used them on paper and a shirt. And I am planning to dye a nightgown. Thanks for sharing🌻

They're beautiful! Your videos are my favourite on KZbin. Your voice is calm and serene, the imagery is stunning, and I feel like I'm just hanging out with you in your down- to- earth kitchen. 🌾

Love the imperfection you are going for. Gives so much more energy to the garment, beautiful. I haven’t tried alum acetate before, I just read that you need chalk at some point. You didn’t use chalk, and I was wondering why? Thank you for another great video.

Thanks for appreciating the imperfections!!! I love them too. I did actually use a chalk bath after the alum acetate … just didn’t film that bit 😉

Love it and so excited for more videos to come! I do have a question for you... what is your favorite thread choice? I notice you dye finished garments and I've been trying to hone in on what cotton thread is reliable for both sewing and serging :)

I just used a mercerised cotton thread from my local sewing shop…. It’s important to get a good quality one as cotton can be less durable that polyester threads 🥰

Thanks so much for another yummy bundle of inspiration! While I adore the beautiful bold pink one gets from cochineal, I always find myself returning to the awe-inspiring onion skin orange. So simple but so effective. And thanks for throwing in the silk and highlighting the contrast between the two fibers. What sort of silk do you like to use? It's so lovely!

Yes it’s cool to see the difference right? Errrm I bought this silk on line in a panic when I thought the silk I’d ordered for my workshops wasn’t going to arrive in time and I actually don’t really know what kind of silk it is… it’s not really a satin … very light weight… 🤪
