I'm in the same boat. Did you do it yet?
@KnottyZah9 жыл бұрын
You probably want to keep from putting moisturizers that you would put in loose hair because that can cause build up.. Oils are really all you need well from my personal experience waxes and gels cause build up in the long run. And water helps your hair lock because when your hair dries the hair compacts. But that looks like budding to me!
@KnottyZah9 жыл бұрын
+Natazah Ahyathan And wash your hair either how you did before or whenever you feel it NEEDS it.. It wont hurt if you wash just be careful with the shampoos because they can strip the moisturizer out of your hair!! Glad you enjoying your journey they look nice! Look like they gone be thick too. And you can checkout videos on how to wash starter locks I remember seeing a video this sister washed hers through a wig cap so the coils wouldn't unravel I didnt try myself but maybe that could help

hey girlie. your locs are soooo beautiful. i put water and a little bit of lemon or lime juice in a spritzer bottle and spritz my locs like once a day. Locs love water so you cant have enough. This helps the way the locs are going to lay and lemon and lime juice help enhance your color if you go out into the sun. Thats what i read. Its definitely a spiritual journey and you have to experiment. In the process you WILL learn more about yourself and your hair as well. Ive been locked for 9 months. Good luck :)

I just got starter locs and, after watching your videos, I now want to take them down and start over!! The girl who twisted my hair gave me NO particular part pattern, just random parts and I LOVE how you have that deep side part.
@rodneycolejr.49897 жыл бұрын
if you have the ability/time you should twist your own. thats what i did and it gave me exactly what i want. i wanted a natural pattern cause i hate the box look. you can always section your hair and then twist with a natural pattern in those sections. that'll make it like hers where you can part it but theres not a bunch of boxes in your head, unless you like that look. i did mine with no experience doing hair and only a bit with cutting mens hairs. i waited 3 weeks after when i needed a retwist to go to a salon for advice/to fix my mistakes. i was told my hair was done well and she even questioned how i did them so neat for not being able to see very much. so she simply charged me for a retwist where she basically just cleaned up my roots.
@kionnaalexis7 жыл бұрын
I wish I'd done that. I took mine down & cant for the life of me do it myself. Now that I look at my pictures, I could have definitely just added a side part & been okay. :/

I love your personality ! I just started watching your videos I know you are like 7 months loc'd now. I haven't watched all your videos yet to see what you're currently using in your hair ( I will within the next few days). One thing I wanted to mention , I'll be loc'd 3 years the end of August (yay I'm excited lol ), Damian Walters started my locs and than after about 6 months in ,I started maintaining them myself. A few months ago I started watching locs by yannie (she is great if you haven't watched her yet), very simple ... She recommends using half rose water and vitamin E oil to hydrate your hair... And I must say it works great. My hair use to feel a little dry to me and now it's soft, and moisturized,you can use as often as u like, it doesn't create any build up. I just wanted to shared that with you. Check out her page and website if u get a chance. She's very knowledgeable Good luck on your journey. Keep posting your videos. Peace and a Blessings.

Try tea tree oil and jojoba oil along with peppermint oil too! The tea tree oil sooths as well and staves off potential mildew, and jojoba oil is close to your scalp's natural sebum. I use a tea tree/pepperment/olive/jojoba oil on my scalp every day or every other day and massage it in for a few minutes. It makes a huge difference
