@@dripdee1913 Yes very true! But remember that the white people called our locs "dreads" as an insult to describe our locs, they were calling them dreadful. So it may be offensive and disrespectful to most, but yes it does matter on how you view the word!

@@marce4752 and people of color used the word "dread" as a means of putting "dread" into the system through the embodiment of their hair, a feature that we're always being judged by. how white people speak about people of color, amongst one another, is quite literally none of our business. WE choose what words and meanings hold power over us.

my baby girl is 8......the same as u, a whole passa everytime it was time to do her hair and because she saw me and her dad has locs and very basic maintenance so she decided thats what she wanted and she is currently 1 year in looking beautiful. you are so right when it comes to starting, you have to take into consideration loc to part ratio, hair density and all of that!! me and my babies locs are the roughly the same size and she has 87 and i have 54....its amazing watching different peoples journeys.

Thank you for creating this video. I really appreciate it because I have worn my hair natural since 1989. I went through all the fads and stages when it came to hair, but just under 5 years ago... I decided to loc my mane. And I started from scratch. For me I arrived at my loc journey by having a spiritual epiphany. So everything about my process needed to be pure and organic. I also find that what other people call my “locs” does not offend me or make me feel any type of way... mainly because I know that some people don’t know, while others purposely try to invoke a certain amount of discomfort without your spirit. I am not interested in trying to teach those who are not interested in learning, so I just let things like this wash right off of me. Because for me...It is absolutely the best decision I have ever made. Again thank you for providing the loc’d and loc’s curious community this information and sharing your experiences with us!

I was told by my Loctician do not use water until you are close to being retwisted. Because the example she used it’s like getting your hair pressed and then spraying it with water. So she is basically saying the water will untwist your freshly twisted hair. Yes she highly recommends oil.

I agree that too much water can make your hair frizz but that’s why I use a mist water bottle versus one that streams out heavily! All of our hair needs water at every single stage, whether loose natural, locs, etc!

You're so welcome 🤗 I'm 5 months into my journey and I'm looking to not retwisting till August or September if I can stretch that far😅 Would braid outs be okay if I put them at least every other week? I won't be retwisting and I'll be braiding really loosely so I'd think I'd be fine
@LifeWithLocc
@LifeWithLocc 3 жыл бұрын
I feel like as long as you’re moisturizing (daily misting & at least 3 times a week) in between your retwist, you’ll be fine love! & yes, keep them loose if you can to avoid too much tension on your locs because every other week is kinda frequent! You don’t want them to thin out 😬

I would say yes. The dryer helps set your roots so that they’re not unraveling after a retwist.

I usually do every 2-3 months for mine so I feel like if they’re mature, you’re safe! Just be sure to spray your hair daily with water and oil it at least 3 times a week to keep it strong in between your retwist!

@taraw.5852
@taraw.5852 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Read the directions on the bottle. Only a tiny amount -dime or nickel size maybe- will do. Dilute with water in a bottle. I mistakenly used it like regular shampoo- handfuls until it lathered and sadly I stripped my daughter's hair dry as wood. It was like paper. Please read the directions first. It's not like regular shampoo.
