My grandmother used to use nothing but Aloe vera to style and wash her hair and the health and shine in her hair was pretty epic. This recipe looks amazing!

Using warm/hot water makes the melting process way faster. I made my batch last week, black soap, acv, fenugreek, tea tree and rice paste left over from my rice water leave in.

Growing up in the Caribbean we used tuna and aloe vera in our hair. Our hair was very thick, long and healthy. Where did it go?!!!🤣🤣🤣

Yup. In the area where my mother grew up in the W.I., all the women used Aloe for their hair. All the women had very long hair and everyone assumed the women from this area were mixed with Taino when they were not.

If you chop the soap into smaller pieces first, it'll "melt" a lot faster. 👍🏽 Great recipe! I love aloe and ACV, and baking soda whenever I have a lot of build-up. I'm excited to try this recipe uniting the ingredients!

Here is fun tip that I use when my hair is that matted, I condition it first, wash it and then condition again.

I use shea butter as a pre poo, that really softens and moisturises the hair before washing

I always make my own black soap mixtures . And they are 100 percent better than regular shampoo even if I just use the back soap by its self. Honestly it's the only soap I use on my body. I will never go back to regular soap.

Aloe vera gel has really helped soften and grow my hair and I found an easy way to get the juice off without a blender or the mixing or the lamps, and I made a short how to video on my channel. I can be inconsistent, so making my hair routine easy is really important to me. This was really helpful too.

I also made this I did hot water to melt soap cause waiting 8 hours is too long for me I normally make it a few bourse before washing my hair. I also added garlic and tee tree oil. Garlic grows my hair pretty well !

It would have been good to have the exact measurements as not to over dry the scalp.....I tried this shampoo, it was a good hair wash. Will probably stop buy shampoo now. I put my soap in hot water, made the soap melting process faster.

Hello, thank you for sharing this video. My hair is , I would say medium in thickness. I will definitely try this home made shampoo and hopefully it would thicken my hair. In my family as we get older our hair thins out. Your hair is beautiful.

Thank you. Not sure if it will thicken your hair though as it’s a shampoo. Maybe consider other things like scalp massages, fenugreek and hibiscus etc ❤️

Simple, basic, easy instructions. Thank you! Surprised by how long it took to find a good video on making this shampoo. Some folks didn’t want to talk in their video, and I appreciate verbal directions in a video. I only use my homemade black soap aloe vera shampoo. Only thing I don't add water to mine. I sometimes add flaxseeds and fenugreek seeds. The definition after washing is everything.

Love it! Question- Without a preservative, how long will this last? I know fresh aloe Vera will start to go bad if kept refrigerated after 1 week. How can this be kept longer or what’s a good natural preservative (if possible) thank you! 🤗

I actually don’t know what natural preservative to use either but without it I was able to keep mine for just over a month. It was still fine lathering well but got darker in colour that’s all I noticed. Perhaps just make what you need

I know that clove oil and thyme essential oils are natural preservatives typically added to handmade watercolor paints , maybe you could use them to preserve your handmade shampoo too!

Add a few drops of tea tree oil for an antibacterial and vitamin E for preservative.

Your hair looks nice and soft. If I were to try this I wouldn't use the baking soda and apple cider vinegar. Those dry out my hair. And I don't like the smell of the vinegar. I would substitute it with other natural products and oils. Great video 😊

Baking soda and vinegar over time will throw off the natural ph balance of your hair but I'm most definitely using the black soap and aloe Vera Thankyou

I love this diy shampoo. However, I is it best to strain the aloe vera from the blender to keep from having the white pulp in your hair? Even though you are going to rinse the shampoo out of your hair, to me it would save time, water and energy, if the aloe vera pulp has already been removed from the mixture. Thank you for sharing this wonderful diy!

Thank you for sharing this. Did you initially add cold or hot water for the black soap to melt? i may try it with hot to see if it melts faster. And do you use cheba oil or ever used it? Thanks!

Great recipe....I’ve never used that brand of black soap...usually when I melt my black soap I have to strain it because there’s usually some sort of seeds/stems in it from the creating process. I may have to use the kind you use because I usually buy the 1 pound bricks of black soap. I look forward to trying 😎✌🏽❤️❤️

What kinda natural conditioner would you suggest natural shampoo is thinking should go with a natural conditioner? Would you recommend following up with deep conditioning with coconut oil?
