I'm a busy medical student who's trying to branch into non-fiction and your recommendations are incredible. Your channel is criminally under subscribed. Your orating fantastic as well. You could easily narrate audiobooks.

I’ll definitely be checking out The Triumph of Seeds. I would highly recommend Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard, it won the Nobel prize in the 70’s and is one of the most amazing nature books I’ve ever read. That and the Overstory by Richard Powers

I was so hoping that you were going to mention The Signature of All Things! I think that book is so underrated! And epic that needs more reading from more people! I know I already said this but I am so happy that you enjoyed it!

I was just watching waterstone channel’s approach to nature/ animals and the connection to fiction-nonfiction writing and reading idea 😌 i feel everything is connected somehow. I love nature, glad about ozone layer recovery. Thank you for the video.

Wanting to hike more in "my own back yard" of Wisconsin I realized I could use some friends to inspire me to get out there. I found your channel, and love your presentation. Your enthusiasm for these authors is contagious! I'll be checking them all out. And your channel again too.

Yes, Walden! I bought a copy of it about ten years ago with the goal of reading it “someday” and for some reason being in a pandemic seems like the “someday” I’ve been waiting for. Great list!

Such a great list! So many of these are on my TBR because of the wonderful things I've heard you say about them. Even just hearing you talk about them sort of lifted my mood!

All Among the Barley was researched and written about my area of Suffolk, England, and that made it even more special to me. We did it for book group last year.

I'll definitely have to get my hands on The Triumph of Seeds! I'm so happy that you enjoyed the Sound of a Wild Snail Eating so much! I read it recently while at home with an injury (not knowing the author was also bedridden) and it was so beautiful and made me feel less lonely. Such an uplifting read ❤️ This video also reminds me to pick of Lab Girl soon! Thanks for the lovely video as always 😊

I’m in for the Canary Tree. I love Alaska. And as usual with your recommendations, I’ve put almost every one on my list!

I find I'm reading more non fiction nature books during this lockdown. In search of the canary tree jumps to the top of my list, and the Triumph of the Seed. I agree you cant go wrong with Thor Hanson. Thanks, great list.

I think you'll love this French children classic about nature : it's Tistou, the boy with green thumbs ( Tistou les pouces verts in French) by Maurice Druon. I loved it when I was in primary school 😁

The Triumph of Seeds sounds particularly fantastic, I shall have to check it out once I've made my way through the three or four plant books I currently have on my shelves :)

Unsurprisingly a fantastic list! I need to read The Outrun, it just sounds like all the things I love in nature related nonfiction! I don't know how I've missed In search of the canary tree but it's going on the list.

What a gem of a site. Just Thor Hanson's, "The Triumph of Seeds" was worth my watching. If you do not know it, Thoreau's "Faith In A Seed" is another such gem.

Thanks to your reviews I read The sound of a wild snail eating, Walden and Labgirl. I particularly appreciated the first two, especially Walden, since in Italy Thoreau is not studied at school and I didn't know him. Did you read the forest unseen? In my opinion it's one of the best books ever written about nature! Thank you for your wonderfull videos!

I have only read two of those, the Outrun and All Among the Barley. I think At Hawthorn Time is my favourite of hers though
