Naturehike Mongar 2 versus Luxe Tempo UL 2
This is a comparison of two tents that are considered "knockoffs" of the MSR Hubba Hubba.

I like the Tempo has the side zip for the vent, but otherwise the Mongar wins for me. One reason is that it has the included footprint with the same grommets. This allows you to put up the rain fly up with the mat in the rain and keep the tent dry. You can then put the tent up under the fly (I have done it). It also allows just to use the fly if you are not concerned about bugs. Plus I use mine only in warmer weather and that extra mesh is a god sent for ventilation. Not sure where you got your prices from but the Mongar is at $140 while the Tempo is $380.

I purchased both from Amazon 2 years ago. I have a tyvek sheet that I use with another similarly sized tent that has tabs with holes that can let me put up the fly first and it works great! The Tempo is for use with my dog so I appreciate having no lower mesh for her to snag a nail in.

Thank you for a thorough review!!❣ Btw, Amazon has the exact design and similar specs as the Luxe Tempo 2p called Stratum Zircon 2p for $70 should you need to expand your collections. :-)). In fact, I just ordered one because it's a steal!! I've had a Luxe Tempo 4person for a few years now, and it's still going super strong. I also have a nature hike 1person but trying to get away from it because it burns me alive from staring at its Orange color! :O

Oh, that's good to know! For a little while the Tempo appeared to be discontinued but I see some are back in stock. That's a great price on the zircon and I hope it serves you well. My next collection piece might be a tent with a stove jack. 😃

I'm digging that Luxe Tempo UL2 Very nice. I really like the zipper for the vent. I forget to do that all the time.

I'm looking forward to testing it out. I like the zippers, too. Makes it easier to open/close the vent once settled in. Might be helpful to undo the clips of the inner tent if I need to take it down in the rain, too.

Hi. I recently bought the mongar 2 as well and am on the fence about it. Do you know what the material on the lux is? Looks like nylon. Also since you made this vid. Have you used the lux in rain? Any leaks?

The luxe is nylon. I prefer polyester because it doesn't absorb water as much. The whole purpose for this tent is to take my dog backpacking with me. It saves my nice Marmot from any damage she might inflict, though she's pretty easy going. I generally don't take my dog if I know it is going to rain so I'm not concerned about it being nylon. I have not tested it in the rain but since you brought it up, I will likely set it up in my yard this week since we have storms possible. I do need to test it. Thank you for watching and once I do a rain test I'll come back here with a report.

I finally was able to get the Luxe out into the rain and it performed flawlessly! 4 days of rain and no leaks and it didn't seem to absorb water and didn't sag. Very pleased with this tent!

I have not been able to use it a whole lot. I bought it specifically to use when I carry my dog backpacking and that just hasn't happened as much as I'd wanted since I purchased the tent. But it has done just fine so far. Plenty of room for both of us and gear.

I agree with you 100%, the Luxe has nicer features that i like as you do. I like Naturehike as well but, they may be slipping abit in quailty Cheers & keep on hikin!

They have the Luxe back now should you decide to order it. They also have the Stratum Zircon 2p, which has the exact design and similar specs as the Luxe 2p for $70, which's a steal! In fact, I just ordered it. 😄
