this video is giving me peace of mind after ordering it a few hrs ago! i had a tough time choosing between a Mongar 15D and a Cloud Up 10D & decided this would be nicer for any friend/guest who dares to camp with me :) vertical walls, double doors & double vestibules are all very supportive in this light. ive read thru all the comments & definitely targeting summer w this tent. however, my body does indeed run cold so im sure a Cloud Up will be a welcome addition to the family when i decide to go on my 2nd solo backpacking expedition at some point! i "lost" my 2P tent back in 2003 so its a big deal to finally replace it! ive been hobbling by car camping in a 6P the last 10 years (and technically a 1P bivy ive used once it got me so claustrophobic!). im so done lugging a monster around or being in a coffin & look forward to being a wee bit more nimble & spontaneous w my new Mongar!

UPDATE: I ended up returning the Mongar 2 & a Cloud Wing 2 for an REI Flash 2 on sale. I really really wanted to go w Naturehike but they changed the design of the Mongar rainfly so it clips to the inner tent which means you can no longer put the Mongar up as a shade structure :( I nudged Naturehike to consider doing what REI did & having duplicate clips on the footprint (hope they follow through!) I really wanted to like the Cloud Wing 2 - it was amazingly easy to set up but I didn't realize the rainfly is permanently attached to the inner tent so it became an immediate dealbreaker. I think if the Cloud Up 10D was still available, I would have seriously kept it. at the end of the day, the Flash 2 is only 3 lbs 4 oz (all in w 6 oz footprint) - this is a 5 oz premium over the Cloud Wing 2 w many of the features of the Mongar 2 (vertical walls, double doors/vestibules) w a 1 year return policy (!). mind you, the Flash 2 was a $100 premium (separate footprint was $33) over the Cloud Wing 2 which made me go over my $200 budget by 40% so it's an investment at this point! ive taken the Flash on my 2nd solo expedition 2 weeks ago & def a happy I got it - ask me again in May 2024 though! 😁

I have this tent and I simply adore it. Iit's easy to open doors with no drips into the tent, two doors make it practical for two people, the interior doesn't feel too cramped, there's tones of ventilation, and it's just a pleasure to pitch. The only flaw is the all mesh inner gets cold even in autumn. It's got brilliant ventilation and headroom during the day but this means it's chilly at night. Gotta have a good sleeping bag!
@BackpackingUK Жыл бұрын
I just wish they did a solid version, they'd sell loads of these then!
@morgantrias3103 Жыл бұрын
@@BackpackingUK Yeah, I think it's just not right for UK weather. What would be good was if they made a warmer inner like the Star River one and sold it seperately, as is I think I'm going to get a Cloud Up 2 for colder weather/solo. because the large headspace in the Mongar also makes it colder and I have the 15d nylon one which probably doesn't help.

I use the Mongar 2 tent. Have used it for 3 years now and am extremely satisfied. Have used it for a cycling holiday in Denmark in all kinds of weather. I use the top pocket in the inner tent to dry towels during the day and is also a good storage space. However, I have a problem with the inner tent in that the zipper is stuck in the fabric and it is impossible to get rid of it. One part of the zipper bulges out. Does anyone have a link to pages how I can fix it myself. I'm probably not the only one with this problem. A good piece of advice is to be careful when using the zipper and possibly hold with one hand and pull the zipper with the other!!!!! Thanks for this review.!!

@alexandreguillendesouza85963 жыл бұрын
Amazing videos. The problem is that Naturehike has too many good options. I'm looking for a all around all year tent and can't decide between Mongar, Cloud Peak and Cloud Up. Cloud Up appears to be more weather resistant than Mongar but Mongar has more "utilities”. And the Peak appears to be even more weather resistant and sturdy, and with great vestibules, but some complain about the zippers, I'm inclined to buy the Peak because of the vestibules, sturdiness and weather resistant. What do you think? 🤔
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
For year round use I’d go for either the Cloud Up or Cloud Peak. The Cloud Peak is the better tent but it weighs more. If you can handle the extra weight then go Cloud Peak 👍

@@BackpackingUK thanks!!! I'll be training to handle a lot of extra weight, especially water! Great videos, especially when you put the link of the product. Very good review, I wonder if it is possible to set the rainfly whithout the footprint by connecting the poles to the grommets and then , if it is raining you attach the rest of the tent from inside. Have you tried that ?? Is it possible ? would be a nice option if its raining
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
I suppose if you did a bit of clipping and unclipping and fiddling about you may be able to do it. Personally, I’d probably just rest the fly on top of the inner and / or poles if it was raining, that would stop most of the rain. Good idea though, I’ll check it out.
@justvin72143 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. You can clip the fly corners to the pole ends and then hang the inner up under the fly, then clip the inner corners over the pole ends without having to unclip the fly corners.

The Mongar 2 looks cool and has more features. However, it is much more of a 3 season tent. The Cloud Up 2 tent is still a really nice tent but it's more resistant to the weather. Thank you for taking a shot of the contents as I plan to separate into few bags across the bike and also spread the weight. But it's hard to tell the length of the longest parts but do you think this tent would be good to separate into smaller bags and any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Take a look at the Naturehike Cloud Up 2. I think that packs up smaller?

I imagine you're already sorted but the Mongar 2 poles come with their own bag and they measure just under 45cm.

Hi,I have the 15d ultralight version,the 20d version packs down just as small if you compress it and take the poles out.it fits between my bars perfectly.

Best 3 Naturehike tents (in my opinion) with links. : 1. Mongar 2 : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0719SWNCT/ref=ox_sc_act_image_5?smid=A2KXWTO97XCISV&psc=1 2. Naturehike Cloud up 2 (ultralight version 10D) : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GCFLD8M/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A3JOZTY99ZO5BJ&psc=1 3. Naturehike Opalus: www.amazon.com/Naturehike-Opalus-Lightweight-Camping-Backpacking/dp/B07B2PHP5B?ref_=ast_sto_dp Mongar 2 good for overall camping, wind resistance is very nice. Good for one person and all of their gear, pretty roomy; lots of headspace. (about 4lb with all included accessories). Can fit two person. Cloud up 2, good for one person. Nice wind resistance, less headspace unlike the Mongar. Two person can be pretty cramped. Good for ultralight backpacking (2.5 pounds; ultralight version). Recommend if you want ultralight backpacking. Opalus : Lots of room and headspace, can fit 3 person comfortably. Good for long trips, it can store a lot of gear and provides you comfort. Winter camping with this might be a little breezy and cold because of all of the mesh.

what are you trimming off to save 1.15 lbs on the 10D Cloud Up 2? the packed weight is 3.65 & it would be a dream to get it to 2.5 lbs as this would be .5 lighter than my 1P bivy!

The tent can be purchased here: amzn.to/3tUAq2m on the Amazon Prime Naturehike UK Store or buy from Camperlists (£104) here: www.camperlists.com/collections/naturehike-gear/products/naturehike-mongar-2?ref=azpizuhxua

Nice tent but the inner get wet if pitch up in rain and I camp a lot with my bike in rain. I search a good inexpensive tent pitch up outer first
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
The Cloud Up range is the same. However, the Cloud Peak pitches the inner and outer together so a good option if you get stuck in the rain. I should add it literally takes 2 minutes to pitch the inner on the Mongar 2.

@@BackpackingUK was just about to purchase this tent thanks to your video…just to clarify, is it not possible to pitch outer first to save the inner getting wet?
@McCaff623 жыл бұрын
You can pitch the flysheet first .The inner just clips on later.

There is an even cheaper 210T version of this
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
Yes, just remember the 210T versions are heavier. It only really matters if you're backpacking.
@kaikart1233 жыл бұрын
@@BackpackingUK Yep, and I heard the 210T version is more UV resistant, I don't know if this is true

Id never buy any of these cheap Chinese naturehike tents ever again... I've had three and they are absolute rubbish...... They may look good but that's about it! Save your money and buy a proper tent!
@BackpackingUK Жыл бұрын
What exactly do you mean ‘rubbish’. I hate comments with no specifics.
@mrmods7912 Жыл бұрын
@@BackpackingUK They are just cheap copies of proper branded tents... The materials they use are cheap .. The zips are terrible.. They are just banking on people buying them because of the price! The cloud peak 2 is a terrible designed tent yet people keep buying it! The doors face the same direction which is useless for cooking when the direction of the wind and rain changes... The hood is a joke and leaks water into the vestibule!

How does it compare to the cloud peak 2?
@BackpackingUK3 жыл бұрын
The Cloud Peak 2 is definitely a warmer tent, it's also larger too but weighs slightly more. The Mongar 2 is the perfect tent when the weather is nice.
