Great vid as always Trev. I have the Hiby3 and a Vik2 both good tents. Glad to see I am not the only one wearing one of those cheap woolly hats with a light attached. Perfect for camping and cheap.

I guess if you put rocks on the skirts in summer and snow in winter they won't flap and will stop that Dartmoor wind dead in its tracks. Might lead to more condensation though.

What it this trend in the tent industry to use bright neon colors? I wished the Star River came in a stealthy green color like the MSR, but this one stands out like a textmarker, visible for miles. Naturehike does have the Cloud Up tent in a dark forrest green, but not this one. Why?

Just curious. Why did you set up the external cover before the internal part? Is there a specific reason?
@SummitOrNothing3 жыл бұрын
Just to show that you can set up the outer first if there's a lot of rain fall really, because when I set it up normally people always comment on how they don't want an inner first tent.

Wasn't too bad. I put the outer up first just to show you can. It's easier to pitch the inner first.
@WildAstro5 жыл бұрын
Summit Or Nothing ah so it can be done either way. There’s something about tents that pitch outer/inner separately that puts me off. I feel like if you have to get it done in the rain then you can do it much quicker if outer and inner go up together. One of the reasons I like the Lanshan I guess!

Looked a great place to pitch behind the Torr and a nice easy set up. I loved the color of the tent and really blends in and I had the same issue with my last tent, with the skirt around the bottom. You looked knackered at 05.30 mind lol but at least it kept dry. Looked a good tent to be fair and plenty of room, cheers Alan

What sleep system do you use, I notice In a lot of your films you sleep in clothes. I used to do the the same but then listened to a podcast about winter camping and if you don't layer up evenly then you often feel cold. Ie thermal and jacket on top half and only long John's on legs. Since then I've found this to be true and rarely sleep in anything other than boxers and if I do put thermals on I make sure top and bottom are equally covered.
@davidhale80344 жыл бұрын
Eh? Since being told about proper layering you now rarely sleep in anything other than boxers??
@jaywhite27594 жыл бұрын
@@davidhale8034 pretty much, yeah. I've found that equally layering if I do sleep in clothes helps. Couple of tops on and only thin bottoms and I always woke up cold... But never realised it was my legs that where cooler than core so I felt cold.

You could also try a couple of those hand warmers tucked in your sleeping bag just to take the chill off .... I haven’t tried it but other folks even cold sleepers say it works ... I nearly always use soft earplugs when tent camping these days if it’s not tent flapping it’s far off road / train noises, rain, other campers or animal noises while not everyone’s cups tea I’m used to them now and frankly I always sleep far better ....
