The origin of dough-nuts is well documented. They were originally lacking the hole and had the filled, round style. The use of nut is similar to ginger nut. The hole was originally introduced to make it easier to put different fillings in the middle and the lack of filling is a more modern introduction.

The amount of game you get these days is crazy. I remember paying £39.99 for a 4mb Megadrive cartridge in the early 90s and now you get Gbs for not much more. It’s such a shame that I’m so time poor to play them. Still trying to finish Skyrim and GTA 5

Technically I would agree with Dave that filled donuts are better. Only technically though because the baked good that we know as Krapfen would be translated into (filled) donut according to my English dictionary - even though they are made of a different dough, different in taste and texture. Krapfen are awesome. Donuts on the other hand are just flat out gross.
